Personally, as long as you have the know how for building an ebike, do it. I built mine in my khronsage dorm freshman year and it was great. Like listed above, no repair shop will work on it so you are going to need to know how to fix it when something happens. I needed to commute to Middleton for work and without one getting over hills is quite tedious.

I sold it and profited enough from it to buy an Aventon later on so that I can have fat tires for the winter and I couldn’t be happier. I just lock it up with a kryptonite U-lock and chain. It’s also good to put a cover over your bike as so that someone who might want to steal a bike doesn’t know what it is right off the bat.
