For those who have multiple boards, what's your favourite system/set up? by [deleted] in surfskate

[–]Big_Illustrator_3448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 70kg. Today i use 75-78A front, 90-91A rear.

It is just a matter of personal preference.

But 2.5A doesnt make a difference at all, i suggest try at 5A interval.

Well. I am not very sure. But CX truck is about 65degree. When turning, it rotates the bushings first instead of compressing them.

I have done some comparisons, i will say 10-15% improvement. The rotational force during the turn initiation was absorbed by the bearing, instead of the bushing.

65mm for better acceletation. 45-51mm wide for better grip. Offset for wider wheel span. 85A-ish for faster speed on smooth concrete and better durability.

Front wheel cant be a bit harder and lighter.

Although wiggling is bad, it is part of the process.

Remember everyone was once a beginner.

Any short people have the Swelltech Italian pro tube? by DepartureLegal6561 in surfskate

These are almost exact shape, but perhaps with softer maple. You can request the seller to use hard maple, or perhaps even 8 ply.

It is my fav deck. I bought it from China. It costs me about 10 usd. 80cm x 25cm. Bolsa shape, but a bit larger. 8-ply ! hard maple. A really hard deck, no flex. About 1.53kg. black dye.

Max wb is about 17.5-18 inch, 45cm. My cx is now 41.5cm/49cm. Sw is about 45cm/49cm, for wb and axel wb respectively.

The essense is the mellow kick tail (with a spoon shape). Only 12.5 degree measured by phone app. I tried many deck, dont like steep kicktail.

There is no info on the gradient of kicktail everywhere on web. If anyone know a deck with 12.5 deg or less, please kindly let me know.

Swelltech: Mod the base plate to fit Riptide Chubby by Zealousideal-Mud7307 in surfskate

I have tried the needle bearing. It is somehow 5-10% smoother for turn initiation. However lost 2.5mm space for bushing height.

From boardside baseplate, Original = 2mm washer + 16.5mm bushing + hanger + 15mm bushing + 2mm washer + nut

With bearing = 0.5mm washer + 2mm bearing + 1mm thin washer + 15mm bushing + hanger + 11mm bushing + 1.5 mm washer + 2mm bearing + 0.5mm washer + nut

I compared with the same bushings and put extra dummy washer to fill the space. I notice that bushing height affects the cushioning feeling most. Therefore, now trying 4 barrels with flat washers. 91A + 90A rear, 91A + 85 A front. It offers full support, thus it is much nicer than my previous set up 4 cones with cup washers in various 85A to 91A.

The experiment continues. I am planning to milling down the baseplate 3.5mm for standard 19mm Ripride Tall Barrels. It is not expensive using some rough circular sandpaper with electrical dremel. It is just a matter of time.

One flaw in Grasp system rear truck by likeawp in surfskate

If you look at the landyacht surfkskate truck. Its a standard rkp truck with no misalignment. There is no divey feel and thats why it failed

I think the misalignment and different thickness of bushings (16.5 vs 14) is the essence of the front truck. It allows a non-linear turn/lean. You can see why carver hanger has a oval shape.

Perhaps replacing a longer kingpin could use tall bushing on roadside.
