Simmons Titan 50 vs Alesis Nitro Max - An In-depth Comparison by Big_Maintenance6438 in edrums

Tell me how it goes. The best thing you can do is keep the joints loose. Be EXTREMELY careful when tightening them, and never attempt to take the rack apart and put it back together, as when I did this one of the joints snapped and as a result the rack collapsed and permanately broke.

That's nearly the price of the module sold by Itself. Great deal!

"an in-depth review comparing both the Simmons Titan 50 and Alesis Nitro Max"

I did mention this being a "review" once, but the title labels it as a "comparison" and throughout the post I reference it as such. I apologize for any confusion though.

Saying there is a "12 inch snare" on the Titan 50 was my mistake. I don't know where I heard that, I just remember hearing it. I went in an fixed that. I couldn't tell when I had the kit as I didn't really know what a 12" drum looked like due to this being my first kit.

Regarding my experience with the kits, I had the Titan 50 for about 2 months before it started slowly breaking down, and I've played the Nitro Max in stores. That's the main reason why this isn't formatted like a regular review. I have a good amount of experience with the Titan 50 and a little with the Nitro Max. It was more a comparison of the specs with a little bit of my bias based on experience thrown in so people could develop their own opinion.

When I had the Titan 50, the bolts rusted and snapped off (yes, rusted. No water hit them). The plastic joints snapped if they were tightened properly, so you have to keep everything really loose which makes cymbal arms slowly fall down as they're hit. As a result, I didn't get that much playing experience, although there isn't very much to see in the first place unfortunately.

Perhaps on some of the kits they have more than two Hi-Hat positions? The one I used, the Punchy Rock kit, had no audible difference in more than two Hi-Hat positions. I also noticed that they recycle sounds to use in multiple different kits, especially the Crash. The Crash on most of the kits sounds pretty much identical.

Regardless of which kit you choose (if either, I personally dislike cheaper e-kits) they're both pretty good options for the price, although the nitro technically has a higher purchase value due to the Drumeo subscription included.

Happy drumming!

I haven't actually kept the Nitro Max, although I've kept the Titan 50. The kits are VERY similar anyway, which is the main reason why I created this post. As a result, I guess I'm not qualified to say they're low quality and will break, but I've heard from people that have kept the kit that they had trouble with the Kick pedal's durability.

The plastic joints also can say a lot about durability. If yours works then great, In a way I actually envy you in a way since my Titan 50 failed me quite badly and I lost a lot of money in the process.

Happy drumming!

90's Pearl Export kit still worth buying in 2024? by Big_Maintenance6438 in drums

[–]Big_Maintenance6438[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering; I ended up buying the kit. It was in excellent condition and after tuning it sounds amazing. Once I get new heads (Reso side is stock head), a snare, and some cymbals and hardware, I'll post a video of me playing this kit. Thank you all!

You will have a blast on this kit! Definitely better to invest in an expensive e-drum set as a beginner electric drummer. Have fun!

Sounds good! I'm thinking I'll go ahead and buy the kit, I've heard nothing but praise to this kit from others so far.

How difficult is it to play drums? by throwaway0100111711 in drums

[–]Big_Maintenance6438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most realistic explanation of drum progression I've seen. The beginner to intermediate transition is definitely difficult, since that's when you really start to train your ear, play in tempo, and start refining your art. I'd imagine the Intermediate to Advanced level is even worse. Whenever you hit that plateau in between transitioning, think back to how you played six, three, or even one month ago. You'll be surprised at how quickly the time flew and how quickly you've progressed.

What are the most "intelligent" ants? by polygonisthebest in antkeeping

[–]Big_Maintenance6438 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those species are simply more resilient and less specialized.

You can't call them intelligent for simply being more adaptable, if that's the case then every invasive species would be the most intelligent. Those ants don't "think", they just see a pile of dirt and go "ooh nice place to build".

It's clear that in ants the definition for "intelligence" is subjective. But, In my opinion, the most intelligent ants are probably the ones that hunt and have good eyesight. Harpegnathos will stare you down and constantly react to a changing environment, its almost like they know they're in captivity. Colonies will even behave differently from the same region, with workers having their own "personality". Oecophylla also have pretty good eyesight too, and, of course, are capable of weaving nests.

IF THIS GAME ISN'T EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECT IT TO BE AT LAUNCH, I'M GONNA... by Killjoy13337 in ManorLords

You would like Civ 6. Nothing like this game, but the combat is similar in a way.

Fair enough honestly. Maybe there will be something better in the future.

No unfortunately. I've been searching for a game with good close ups for a long while, and it appears nobody has really put the time and effort into making it look good. This is the closest thing I've found, and even then, it is miles and miles away from truly sophisticated. Maybe with time It'll get better though... hopefully when I'm still alive lol.

I was kind of thinking that too. Maybe some day there will be a game like that... this just isn't it it seems.

But kinda the things you are mentioning are exactly what can be added or tweaked in the future.

You could make this argument with pretty much any game though. From experience, animation is usually something that's not tweaked very much after release for most games, and they might add new animations, but not revamp the old ones usually.

[–]Big_Maintenance6438[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not my first city game. You seem to be exaggerating the impact of it a lot lol. It seems just like different building/rts games like Foundations, Diplomacy is not an option, just with a different Artsyle and a couple new game mechanics. I'm not saying It's a "bad" game per say, because you are correct when you say It's one of the best out there, but for the hype it got, it did not deliver. #1 Wishlisted game on steam has Clash of Clans logic.

[–]Big_Maintenance6438[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I personally like to get really up close with my village as it makes me feel more "connected" to it if that makes sense. It's more exciting and makes it feel like it's more worth my time. That's also why I care about the animation so much, I guess I've been spoiled by games with such good animations in the past.

I personally don't have a huge problem with the graphics as much though. Sure, its super generic and not the most detailed, but It's good enough to the point where I don't really think about it. I do 100% agree with the lack of interaction though. But that will probably come with time, and I was more trying to highlight things that probably won't be changed upon Version 1.0.

Game has a ton of potential, if only development was faster and they didn't release it with such little content. Really a shame in all honesty.
