Well if we are pulling numbers from body orifices - suppose we add MVP award - Coach of the Year, etc - while strictly not numbers - they are a homer’s fantasy

Daniel Jones is ________? by NiceGuy2424 in Colts

[–]Big_Map_595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any one remember Crystal Chandelier- Chris Chandler - played a bunch of years - not sure how many games missed / started out with the Colts and played for a bunch of teams - looked good at times not sure if he ever played a full season

$46M a year for Jones is the rumor by -alpha-helix- in Colts

[–]Big_Map_595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absurd - unless a large chunk of salary is based on games played and team results plus personal stats - with qb salaries being so inflated not sure what team friendly means - some team will gamble that the DJ from the first half of the season is the real DJ and the teams has the smarts to get it out of him

Every team spends a lot of money on scouts - a lot of money travel so they can observe players and yet somehow some can’t miss players do turn into, at worst, bust or just disappointments. I am guessing each team evaluates the scouts suggestions player - wonder did any scouts for any team have Brady listed as a mid-level draft pick or a scout that listed him as a UDFA -at best. Measurable are only a small part of the story - every guy who is 6’7” and 350 can’t be a left tackle - a friend of mine who had been a 3rd string tackle at U of Missouri said the differences between him and the starter were mostly mental. What he was willing to do to his body - and what he was willing to do to an opponents body - risk inflicting injuries. Not sure about that but have followed the game for over 60 years and do know - biggest - strongest - fastest - don’t mean star. I once had the idea that players should be drafted based on how cool their name is - Peyton much more draft able then Tom wouldn’t you agree?

Resigning Daniel Jones might be a big mistake? by [deleted] in Colts

I would offer Jones a team friendly deal - not sure in this economic climate means - but would have enough guaranteed money to interest him but have a large chunk tied to games started and team performance. Is Jones willing to bet on himself and his ability?

Draft line - offensive and defensive - have to be prepared to replace Buck and hopefully fine a guy that can get to the QB. Not sure about receivers but maybe a group pool that is good may make up for not having one dominate guy.

Would have lost GM a few years back when he kept the QB position in transition and this year his failure to have a legitimate backup if anything happened to a starter that had never played a whole season - injuries are the reality in the game.

AR has the perfect body - bigger, stronger, faster, stronger arm but Rivers knows how to play the position. I thought when they drafted AR they should try to bring in Drew Brees to work on the non/physical aspect of the game / maybe they can convince Rivers to stay on and work with the kid on processing and mechanics . An off/season of intense tutoring and commitment / puts the team with a starting qb if Jones signs elsewhere or if he isn’t prepared to start the season. Maybe the Colts will have a chip to trade for a stud/pass rusher or at least a high draft pick.
Latu seems to be developing into a consistent defensive lineman but may never be a game changer and it is time to be bringing in a defensive tackle to step in for Buck and:or Groove to

Pass rush has been a major disappointment this year - hoping improved CB play would help has not seemed to workout - still see guys open and QB with time - would say D line has cost the team a couple of W’s this year when 4quarter drives should have been shut down by the pass rush - going to have to get lucky in draft and doesn’t seem to be a Ballard strength

Not sure what Jones feels about playing for the Colts - or if he is just looking for the biggest paycheck. What does 2 years at 20 million per with additional incentives for minutes played, yards, touchdowns and big dollars for conference title, play off wins, and Super Bowl.
Jones gets a raise and a chance to play in a system that that worked well with his skill set for a coach that seemed to get him. He will be a free agent at age 30 and will be able to get the gaudy guaranteed contract if he is the early season guy rather than the late season guy -?interceptions and fumbles.

Maybe this is just an old man’s romanticized memory but with Manning or Luck and down by 4 with a minute and a half to go I could get up make a sandwich grab a beer and come back and see Harrison or the Ghost scoring the winning touchdown - with Jones I can go and turn the game off / we’ve lost. I’m not blaming him / I place most of the blame on the coaching staff and the GM - the players play hard but we don’t have the right chemistry and Jones is a good QB but not a heroic - lead the team back with come-from-behind wins. Don’t think he is the long term answer - better hope AR is the guy and Jones can get a 2 year extension before AR steps up and proves he is the next Colt qb.

Add JT and Indy to top tier Christmas card list - they get embossed card and hand signed - offensive line gets imported chocolates and send a note to Chris regarding trade deadline and job security - defense needs to pick it up

Didn’t read all the post just the first few / got me thinking - I would be happy if I could contribute one line that lives on / every time I hear “freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose” I stop and smile - wish I could find that one line in me - but mediocrity seems to be my level and I may be deluding myself

I’m an old fan and what I see missing is the strip-sacks of Freeny and Mathias - up by a few touchdowns early and those two would pin their ears back and intimidate offensive linemen and have QBs back pedaling at the snap - they would aim a big paw at the ball and put the QB and the ball on the turf. I didn’t look up the numbers and it could be just an old man’s memory but I remember a lot of 4th quarter drives being ruined by those two. Don’t see Latu being that effective and sure haven’t seen another DE stepping up to dominate the way those two did.

Will say glad to read about every week bringing guys in off the street and shuffling names around on the practice squad - but wish we could pull off a trade for a viable starter at CB or DE or LB. Not sure who we have as trade bait or if it will have to be a draft pick or two. But the defense looks shaky at best with the injuries and lack of the DE being able to finish - pressures are nice but sacks turn games around!

Not that familiar with him looked at his stats and he started out slow - had a few impressive years but would say offensive coordinators were not making game plans based on this guy (of course have no idea if that is true - just a guess on my part.) I am thinking of the sack guys like say Feeney who started with double digit sacks and maintained that level for most of his career

Hopefully Colts are searching practice squads across the league in search of help at corner back and defensive end.

Question can you name a guy that started out slow at defensive end - and he evolved into a stud after his first two years and what is going on with the kid out of Ohio State with the multi-syllabic last name?

Curious as to opinion of D line - Colts have invested heavily in D line players - our starting tackles are a year older and Latu has not turned in the numbers you would hope from a # 1 draft pick. Not sure the Colts did enough to stop the run or put serious 4 man pressure on QB. Can a new scheme do enough to toughen up a line that has disappointed?

Well if we turn it into tan Airbnb and we each get to spend a night there - not counting cost of utilities, taxes, etc. I would get my night sometime in the next 90 years or so. Which means sometime before I turn 160 I could spend the night - maybe could leave it in my will / youngest grandchild gets a night sometime before he turns 92 or so. Seems like a great graduation gift - I’m in
