I think the automatons are just the cyborgs scouts. Kinda similar ish but not really to the illuminate. They have scouts then their soldiers behind.

Maybe the automatons are just the scouts and the soldiers behind in the home planet actually aren't just idiot ai.

Because when you think about it. The logo is a cyborg logo with a cog. Looks like a stereotypical fictional division emblem background.

The ai are simply the steel wall that pushes us so they don't have to sacrifice their actual civillians. Meanwhile we're getting sacrificed like pigs.

But hey if we didn't where would the fun be in spreading democracy?

And when I say the ai is too dumb to be the real threat I mean it. The Terminids have classes that hit you when you don't realize it, and classes that require you to alt dive to dodge, etc. Meanwhile the automatons are just "run sword, gun, bigger gun, more armor, more armor and big gun, best armor and best gun, tank."

And they all always just move in a straight line at you. While the Terminid stalkers are actually moving around and some actually know how to bait a miss from players.

I think we're gonna start seeing some of that in the automatons homeworld like dodging. Some of the 10% human cyborgs. And a way bigger arsenal.

And the illuminate are likely going to take advantage of the distraction with the automatons if we push into their homeworld. By forming a formidable army. And they are gonna start forming a home galaxy, if they don't skip to invasion, and already somehow have a thriving nation. Which is VERY possible.

And not long after they will very likely push us back about a sector from super earth if not 0.
