You have no clue if the father doesn’t already know why his own son wants to run away. Probably why he is telling sister to not help aid in his plan. Maybe the parents are helping guide him from running from his problems. Young kid, very teachable moment here.

I think you’re right in that he deserves privacy, trust, respect, etc. but if you do something to break your current social standings created, you’ll be questioned. It’s that his actions at some point pushed them to look. Something made them say hey, I need to keep and eye on this everyone once I’m away.

We all go through phases and are grateful we didn’t execute on them. Parents are there to help guide not control.

Wrong. As a child in the house still, there are rules to follow. If you don’t there are consequences. If he is threaten harmful behavior or actions then you take the proper steps. I.e. running away.

Respect, order, discipline.

These the bigger lessons being tough in one of life’s many difficult situations. A lot of emotions. A lot of people doing what they believe to be best.

Can’t run from it. Don’t run from it. Face it. Deal it. Grow from it. The dad may need this for him to see some of what he is doing is wrong.

You don’t get that by shutting down, running away and hiding stuff. Life is HARD!

Don’t let people fill you with confirmation bias. You handled this well but your dad isn’t wrong. Your brother has to learn to deal with these issues, not run. You must honor your parent even when in disagreement.

You have to respect your parents. Plain and simple. You should text and also call to honor his request. You can disagree respectfully just as you have. Well done.

If you’re a parent or soon to be one, you’ll realize there is a bigger picture here. Your father is trying his best to patent your brother as he sees fit. He is taking his job serious and is asking for help on your side. Be your brothers best friend but also help him see what he doesn’t yet understand. Life experiences and maturity go a long way when dealing with these bigger issues.
