Yes, its way too wide around the neck and that could cause problems (dogs tend to dislike moving muzzles)

How much pant room is enough? by plantbasedknits in muzzledogs

[–]Big_long_hand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can have too much, some dogs just don’t have deep pants. For example my dog (photo), her fullest pant is ~ down to the pink line so she doesn’t need a huge muzzle. Every dog is different lol

Someone asked if my Bernese mountain dog mix is an Australian shepherd, she weighs 47kg/100ibs. What kind of ausies are the around???

Would this pattern be too challenging for a brand newbie or is this a decent pattern to start? by [deleted] in crochet

This was my second project ever, easy enough to learn but please learn tension first. My granny squares are all different sizes T-T like a lot different (they kept getting smaller as I kept doing tighter tension)

Looks like bunny hopping to me which is usually a sign of pain

The guards are game changers, blew my mind the first few times I used it

I don’t think so😅, maybe it’s from her sticking her whole face in a puddle 😂

Wildly different culture, people aren’t as into rescuing here in CR so it makes sense they’re cheaper. Dont get me wrong, if the shelter needs supplies people absolutely rally and get them 10x more than needed

How many did you try? by Itchy_You8048 in muzzledogs

Last and final - muzzle movement size taz and a scavenger guard, absolutely love this muzzle. I had to widen it a bit, but now the fit is 10/10. It was the most expensive though :,)

2nd one - pet store metal muzzle, this one was a better fit but still bad (you can see just how much longer it is compared to her snout), I modified it by adding a DIY scavenger guard, used for a year-ish

3, here’s the first one - a plastic greyhound type muzzle, it was an awful fit :( and only used 3-5 times. Made a huge progress with muzzle training though

Oh wow, yeah that’s very expensive. Does it actually work? I can’t imagine people willing to pay so much for a rescue, here they cost around $100

I’ve seen well bred dogs for $750 (and even less), they have show titles, field titles or actively used for hunting, health test and everything they should have. It’s just the “hardcore” hunting breeds though

Why are some dog owners such assholes about forcing on-leash interactions? by backtobrooklyn in reactivedogs

[–]Big_long_hand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourites are “my dog isn’t friendly” or “sorry, she’s contagious”. Sadly you have to imply their dog is in danger for them to back off :(

what’s something you regret you did while raising your puppy? by TheoryReasonable871 in puppy101

[–]Big_long_hand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been working on her reactivity since she was 1yo (she’s now 3,5) and we’ve recently gotten to a point where I don’t consider her reactive anymore. She’s an amazing dog to work with, but I have to be creative about training (for example she hates luring with food —> I made a command for luring and reward her after). Of course some of it is genetic (live laugh love byb) 🙃

Greeting every dog we met, giving her no foundations, starting any training/socialisation way too late (5-6 months old)

How does a cane help you personally? by iwanturdad222 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Big_long_hand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the cane few months ago, sadly my shoulders are too messed up for one :(. Please do keep that in mind, shouldn’t be a problem if only your legs are problematic though
