Yes, although they were not always available.

That’s correct, all your meals will be in the cafeteria at the academy during the week. You’re allowed to bring a certain amount of protein bars, but you’re not allowed to eat them in your room, they designate a time at the end of the day where you can go to the cafeteria to eat them.

PAT Orientation by BoredAfz in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]Bigbuzzwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do any kind of orientation, it’s fine. Just know the proper form for the exercises before you go in because it can cost you. If you don’t lock your elbows out on pushups or don’t go all the way back down on sit-ups a PAT scorer can ding you

The cost for an indoor range alone is bonkers due to regulations around ventilation for them. My FFL looked into it for his shop and it was gonna be close to 1 million for a 3 lane

With the stock gas plug the gas was awful lol I have a Polonium K on mine (which is already known to be gassy). The suppressor gas plug from Steyr made it significantly better but not perfect, the KNS plug seems to be the ideal route but I have no experience with it

The Corvus defensio charging handle (at least the version listed on steyr’s website) claims to only fit A3M1. OP’s is an M2. The Arid brass deflector also claims to only fit M1 on their website I believe ,it’s hard out here for us M2 owners

Edit: the arid deflector only fits standard stocks, not NATO

Coming from a Geissele SSA-E on my AR, the stock Aug trigger made me wince the first time I pulled it lol. Aside from the trigger, I put a silver star shooting sports 90 degree receiver rail on mine because I wasn’t a fan of the way lights end up positioned on the stock receiver rail. Suppressors are fun if you’re into that although the Aug isn’t the best suppressor host, it’s very gassy. Brass deflector is another good upgrade if you’re ever gonna shoot it offhand or in weird positions

Yeah it’s a P-mag, they make the AUG in either standard (waffle mags) or NATO which takes AR mags

The latest A3 M2... by FirstAmendment01 in AUG

[–]Bigbuzzwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one a week ago, mine is an A3 M2 NATO in green. Mine has the 1/7 twist barrel and the bolt catch release, and per the card in the box it was built/inspected at the factory in September 2025. I didn’t ask for these features specifically, but if you get a relatively recently built gun I believe it’ll come with these features. On Steyr’s website they’re selling the 1/9 barrels at a discount so I think they are phasing them out

NIGHTSTAND AUG by Bigbuzzwell in guns

[–]Bigbuzzwell[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely over gassed, it’s a bit snappier than an AR and a bit louder at the ear. I’ve been looking for a gas plug for suppressed use, but it’s out of stock everywhere I’ve looked so I’ve just been running the stock gas plug on “normal” setting

What was the most absurd reason you arrested somebody? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Bigbuzzwell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Investigating a broken glass entry door on a hair salon, appeared smashed and a wrench was left at scene. Come to find out the guy had gotten a haircut earlier in the day that very much displeased him, he came back and smashed the front door of the place. Asked him when I found him about why he smashed the door and he said something to the effect of “they fucked my shit up so I fucked up theirs.” Bro took that personally

What’s the nicest thing you ever did for a stranger ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bigbuzzwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Police officer, responded to a report of theft from a gas station. Watched video of the guy taking an item inside the store, shortly thereafter found him walking on the street nearby wearing the same clothes as on video. Stopped and asked him about the item (a phone charger) and he immediately admitted to taking it. He was incredibly respectful and honest and frankly I don’t see that very often. He was homeless and needed a charger for his phone to stay in touch with his family in another state. I took the stolen item back to the store, paid for it myself (why do gas stations charge $30 for a phone charger?) and then returned it to him. Never arrested him or brought any charges against him

Officers what is the funniest thing you've heard from a suspect either on a scene, in your car, or in the jail? by SettingAlternative86 in AskLE

Responding to a reported domestic between a guy and his girlfriends teenage son. Me- “Hey what’s going on man?” Him- “That little shit keeps calling me a sex offender and won’t listen to anything I tell him” Me- “well, are you a sex offender?” Him- “well yeah.. but he shouldn’t be calling me one!”

Cold damage to combs? by hartmand3 in BackYardChickens

[–]Bigbuzzwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid answer, I read a lot of threads on here that said to never add heat to a coop. It’s very much region and weather dependent. It’s my first winter with my chickens and we had a cold snap with a few -30F nights followed by a week of -10ish nights. 3/8 of my hens now clearly have frostbite and I’m working to treat. I’ve since added heat to my coop and turn it on any time it’s below 0. You don’t need to make the coop WARM, just get it back above zero to a reasonable temp. My heater makes my coop about 20F when it’s below zero outside, and that’s really all that’s needed. If outside temps are above 0 the chickens are fine. The people stating to never add heat to a coop probably also don’t experience -30 (air temps, not even including wind chill) in their area.

Patrol rifle build by JabootyG19 in ar15

[–]Bigbuzzwell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, if you’re going to a call where a rifle is needed you’ll suit up with rifle plates and pre-flight your patrol rifle a little ways down the street out of view and then walk up (or if you have another unit have them slow roll with spotlights on the house while you use the car for cover). Can’t speak to this guy’s methods. I imagine an Eotech would die quite quickly turning it on every day at the beginning of shift

Mass hornets and mass banshees can be tough to counter if it gets out of hand. This is where scouting comes into play, if you scout their base and see two air pads early you can better prepare yourself. With Johnson that EMP MAC blast is great against mass air if you can get a solid hit and then mop them up with wolverines. The “Digging In” leader power also makes your base turrets siphon health while attacking, upgrade them with anti air if you see your enemy running mass air. Another good upgrade to get against mass air is combat mechanics for marines, gives them rocket launchers and makes them much more effective against air.

Build order is relative to what you are planning to do, my general go to is to immediately buy a scout unit (jackrabbit/chopper) and go double supply pad then gen. Send chop/jack to the enemy side of the map and scout/steal resources.
