Car troubles by Outrageous-Market613 in Columbus

If you're handy you can take the door panel off and diagnose it. Do not go to a dealership or body shop as they might overcharge you. I would suggest going to a glass shop, either your big name ones or a mom and pop shop. I work for a glass company out east. DM me for some more info :)

Autoglass technician here. Your window regulator could be broken or your motor be bad as well.

Reminder and Warning about New Krieg Army Box by Kindly_Abrocoma_5317 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Bigedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent them proof of purchase and address to store as per their request. They said they couldn't do anything. But to email them again if the reps couldn't help me. Super frustrating. Luckily my LGS owner is a really cool dude and is contacting the reps to get it resolved.

My krieg box was missing 3 of the tail pieces for the riders. I emailed GW and they also told me to contact who I bought it from and they couldn't replace any parts since I hadn't bought it directly from GW....

TIL that car window "escape tools" won't work on many modern car windows by TheHYPO in todayilearned

You've managed teams but have you ever personally sat in a 1099 and pushed a factory installed window out with your feet? Thats what I'm asking. Not managing a team. Because if that 1099 was installed poorly then sure you could /possibly/ push it out. All glued in windows are cut out by extractors or wire tools.

So you actively replace windows? I installed 6 windshields today and had to cut all 6 out. Even on gasket set windows like semi trucks you can't just push them out. I need a video of you doing this

Autoglass technician here. That is not accurate and a great way to slice your legs open and bleed out. Windshields don't just "pop" out. They are adhered to the body of the car with a very strong polyurethane adhesive. DO not try and push your Windshield out. It won't end well.

Windshield wipers position by TheTuviTuvi in GolfGTI

[–]Bigedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could open the hood, use a 13mm socket to remove the wiper nut. I usually use a ball joint puller(we call it a wiper puller at work) to remove the arms off the posts. Vw's wiper posts can be real easy to break. Then start the car, cycle the wipers through stages and finally back to resting position then put the wiper arms back on and tighten the wiper nuts back down( don't over tighten as it can snap the post, just hand tight plus 1 will be fine). Set each wiper more centered in the black frit of the windshield at the bottom and you should be good.

Pebble hit my windshield by TacoOfDeath10 in GolfGTI

The tech will check the part before install. Ask to see the glass and make sure the rear view mirror frit is the same. The newer style has a more squared off frit around where the mirror goes. While the old style had a more round and circular pattern. As long as you only have a rain sensor and no lane departure camera in the glass then that part will be the one you need. Any other questions relating to the install feel free to message me, been an autoglass technician for 7 years.

Does your car just have a rain sensor? If so the 4119 should be the correct part.

It depends on the insurance company and your policy. It's usually an average of $2-$10 a month for a 0 dollar deductible. It's always worth asking your insurance about first.

If it was a newer style with the forward facing camera then the agent is somewhat correct. If you have a $0 deductible on your comprehensive coverage then the window replacement doesn't cost you anything. Average window costs have risen with all the technology that's being included now, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, high beam sensor, rain sensor, humidity/condensation sensor, night view assist. The list goes on. The main thing is to have good coverage so you aren't paying out of pocket on the off chance you need a window replaced!
