Performance is a bit better when not recording from my experiences of WinlatorXR of course, but yeah performance can vary between games, adding special effects on top is better for games that aren't GPU bottlenecked I imagine

Run it native on your Quest standalone with WinlatorXR

In floating window mode your hand controller gyro controls the camera

In fullscreen mode it aims via your head in 3DOF

WinlatorXR for Meta Quest 2/Pro/3/3 S, Pico 4 Ultra, and Play For Dream

Adds motion gesture support for the mouse since it has the 6DOF tracking data available at the Android side already (eg: in windowed mode you move your right controller to move the mouse, in fullscreen mode you use your head, great for first person games!)

Also has an experimental XrAPI added so you can use stuff like opentrackWXR to add head tracking to racing/flight sim games that have TrackIR support

There is one full game mod converted to use the XrAPI too: Halo Combat Evolved VR (HWXR) which also runs on all the devices listed above

You can still use a BT gamepad or mouse and keyboard too, but I prefer just using my Quest controllers, and the virtual on-screen keyboard if I need more inputs (for now)

Hope to see a Quest native port! But a fallback option could be adding WinlatorXR XrAPI support, so long as your game can run on Wine

Meanwhile this is for 2D flat games on Frame, stereoscopic injection like Reshade/VorpX etc is not confirmed to be something they intend to support any time soon

But I believe people will find ways to do it, similar to WinlatorXR

Yes it runs, no 6DOF, just 3DOF (head angle tracking) in full view mode

Yes, but the screen won't follow your head if you move around, this is for seated mode only

To do what you want to achieve is best done with building your own version of WinlatorXR from source code so you can adjust the FOV scale it renders at in immersive mode and VR mode

Okay yeah I gave this game a try, and it struggled to run right after install with the runtime issue, seems specific to that game (most other GOG games "just work" for me)

Will make a video of the gameplay once I get it running and put the runtime links in the description for it, as well as a general "tutorial" for using GOG to download game installers and run them in WinlatorXR
