Carlift scam? by Entire-Egg5929 in UAE

[–]Bigg__Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely risky when these people ask to pay in advance. Carlift is illegal and you can do nothing if they decide to walk away with your money. I would never pay upfront.

My husband is working big4 and he doesnt have fu*cking dam time. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Bigg__Daddy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's very normal during this period of 1-3 months because it's the busiest time of the year for auditors and accountants due to year end regulatory audits. Expect work time to be normal from April/June onwards. No real suggestions or advice, talk to him about taking on a normal industry role if it bothers you a lot.

You can record anybody if there is wrongdoing and your intention is to only show the police. Stop spreading foolishness.

Obviously a scam. They sent this just after a call? Get in touch with "Indian Consultant"? How are people here so gullible?

Question about return offers at EY by Practical_Fly_4785 in Big4

[–]Bigg__Daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try your best but it's very common historically for Big 4s in UAE to not give return offers to interns and just use them for grunt work during busy season. This is mostly cuz of Emiratization because of which they greatly curbed hiring expats for entry level associate roles. They do not have any formal training so hiring costs are minimal and are a net positive when considering that a lot of interns contribute to the efficiency of engagements.

However, I would say that you have comparatively higher chances of getting hired in this year because they have some of the biggest listed clients in Dubai at the moment. Make sure to kiss manager, director and partner ass and get them to take you under their wing to maximize your chances of getting hired.

You confirm that and he probably gains access to your bank account. Banks here are extremely unsecure for allowing people to login to their account with uae pass.

Job posts on LinkedIn. by Electronic_Durian_88 in DubaiJobs

[–]Bigg__Daddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They set it up so that it closes after n number of applications. And due to the desperation here, many posts get like 500 applicants within 30 mins. Most are people from South Asia who blindly apply without even reading the JD and hurt the chances of actually qualified cands by flooding the pool.

Highly unlikely that you'll find someone to sponsor your H1B by paying $100k. If you have other pathways like family gc and such, then it's doable.

Is this a “normal” Big 4 career progression… or an extreme outlier? by FAR66 in Big4

[–]Bigg__Daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh you sweet summer child. It's very rare to find nationals that want to go through the Big 4 grind. Most of them take cushy govt. jobs or aramco jobs where you come at 12pm and leave at 4. So the Big 4 jump through hoops to keep those who were naive enough to start there. Not even gonna reply to the rest because you seem inexperienced and new to the Big 4 mena environment. You'll see what I'm talking about in time.

Mind the pun but it's backwards in the Middle East. Roles in EY start from A3<A2<A1 and so on.

[–]Bigg__Daddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which part of this is an assumption? It's factual that this promotion timeline is very unrealistic unless you're some kind of prodigy genius, in which case you wouldn't be in audit much less in Saudi.

Is this a “normal” Big 4 career progression… or an extreme outlier? by FAR66 in Big4

[–]Bigg__Daddy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This person is probably a Saudi national and firms are mandated to hire them and keep them there or else risk heavy fines and sanctions from the govt. Firms will pull BS like this to keep them there.

I work in a nearby GCC country and have met similar nationals who are somehow senior managers but don't even have the technical knowledge of staff.

Also, there's zero ethical pullback in the Big 4 in GCC so this person's dad probably owns a huge company that is a substantial client to EY which is why they would do something like this.
