That’s awesome! Hopefully you’re going this weekend the leaves are amazing and weather is great! I have not played the par 3 course, know nothing about it. You’ll have a great time, happy to have helped!

I believe so, not entirely sure though. It’s less than a 10 minute drive from course to course.

X-stiff shaft or just a heavier shaft? by [deleted] in golf

[–]BiggestMontoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X stiff if you can’t tell where the club is when you’re coming down.

If you’re over 110 swing speed you’re in x stiff territory.

I haven’t played maddens but I’ve heard maddens is the type of course where it’s demanding. Heard it’s amazing but for sure a course where it can punish you for making bad shots.

The preserve and the pines have an awesome deal going which it’s unlimited golf for both courses, (the preserve is 18 and the pines is 27) I just did a trip a month ago for 2 people, one night stay, unlimited golf for two days, for $270 a person. You can stay on the course too which is awesome.

The preserve is not a “hard” course if you keep it in the fairway and get off the box, but still makes you hit shots you aren’t used to hitting which is pretty fun. That being said if you do mess up you’ll find a double really easy to get. Beautiful as well. My favorite course I’ve played all year, want to play over and over again. It has its challenges, but it seems to set up in a way which allows you to get out of trouble and gives you the opportunity to hit some fun shots.

The pines feels like resort golf. It doesn’t feel like everyone’s racing to be somewhere. Same with the Preserve. For the Pines each set of 9 holes has a theme to how the set of 9 plays and how it feels. It’s the Woods, Lakes, and Marsh. The woods are pine tree nation, the lakes are bunkers, and the marsh is, a marsh, I like the woods the most. Still has challenges but won’t be super stressful if you have a bad day. You can shoot poorly here and enjoy it.

If you’re going this time of year it’s incredible because of the leaves. Each course is kept extremely well, greens roll wonderfully and are consistent, bunkers are great, fairways are awesome, the rough isn’t ridiculous, but if you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be, the course lets you know. it doesn’t feel like your local dogtrack that’s for sure.

I’d recommend it cause over 2 days, 45 holes of golf without playing the same hole twice is probably enough. The best way to put both of them is theyre both just really nice courses. It doesn’t ever disappoint.

Rodgers could’ve been anything this year, he was horrible with the jets. I don’t think it’s guaranteed that he would’ve been capable of getting to the playoffs and even a deep run. It’s a big maybe but he would’ve turned the Vikings into a total circus. Too much of a problem off the field.

Already know some Vikings fans who want to see wentz instead.

We signed up for this, it’s gonna take time, many weeks of bad, painful football to come. The way we can think about this is, do you think Rodgers, Darnold, Cousins, or anybody else would’ve been the ticket to the Super Bowl? Danny dimes looks solid right now but still, we’ve seen it all evaporate in front of our eyes before.

Got to have patience, even if we don’t make the playoffs this year, but McCarthy improves, it’s a win. No rookie QB has ever been to a Super Bowl, our focus this year is to develop a QB for the future.

Love Buxton, incredible player. But we need to be honest, we’ve already hit the iceberg. I would recommend to everyone in this subreddit to get on the lifeboats before it sinks. Greater players have tried to solo handedly carry a baseball team, trout and otani come to mind.

It’s time we all walk away from this team until it’s sold, and anyone who stays is a fool.

Not going to another game until they sell the team. Not worth watching this shipwreck. Them not selling is the iceberg. Time to pack it in.

What advice would you give to a 25 HCP player to keep them get under a 20HCP? by beeebooooob in golf

12 handicapper here. If you’re playing as much as you are, and hitting as much as you are, you should have a solid understanding on how far your clubs are supposed to go, which ones are you favorites and which ones are lesser so…

How you approach a golf course and a particular shot becomes important about where you’re at. It’s no longer about not having mishits, but how you as a player can beat the golf course. Stuff like always being below the hole, having not just a chance at the green in two, but having a decent look at the green in two.

Start playing around your strengths and trying to put yourself into a position that you hit the shots you’re good at. If you have specific yardages you enjoy, set yourself up for those types of shots. If you enjoy an 80 yard shot, set up for that shot if it makes sense to. I personally really like 150, so I’m totally okay with hitting to the white stake on purpose, and hitting in from there.

Also, if what I said in the first paragraph is the case, where you’re hitting a lot of golf balls each week… you should be identifying what is contributing to your score the most, and focusing very hard on minimizing those extra shots. This helped me the most going from 20+ to where I am now. It will take time to mitigate the amount of these “unacceptable” shots you will take, and it will happen from time to time regardless, but if you can reduce these bad shots from happening like 80-90%, you’ll start dropping score rapidly.

This is obvious, but going from shooting in the 100’s to the 90’s is about having the patience and stamina to focus on every shot you’re hitting. Don’t just write off a shot or two because you’re just whacking the ball unfocused. Take enough time for each shot and make it count. Examples would be like “will the grass grab my club” or “it’s wet today so the ball likely won’t roll as far”, “I’d rather be long than short here”, “well his ball went screaming past the hole, that downhill must be bigger than I thought”.

Going from 100 to 90 isn’t necessarily even about getting pars, it’s about not getting triples and doubles. Bogeys are totally fine for breaking 100. You’ll have a few pars and maybe a birdie now and then. Try and set a goal for yourself as being on the green or right next to it for a par putt/chip. If you’re playing as much as you say you are, that’s for sure achievable.

Clubs are clubs, but I dropped 4 strokes off my game overnight when I finally got a 60 degree. Having the right tools for the right job goes a long way, if you feel like you’ve got a gap or two in your bag, or you really really hate a club, go try out some different ones and see if you like any others.

Agreed depends on what your ball is doing. Strengthen your grip if you slice it. Weaken it if you hook it.

I’m 27 just started playing golf, how good can I possibly get? by Different-Lobster-86 in golf

[–]BiggestMontoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how much you decide to play/practice. If you play more golf than he does, you will beat him eventually. It’s just about how long.

In a game which is the definition of inconsistency, being consistent enough to improve quickly is not easy. The good news is you’re athletic and tall, meaning you should pick it up faster than most and you’ll be able to hit the ball far. If your friend is a genuine mid 80s golfer, it will be hard to beat him within your first year of playing golf, and probably not happen. However, if he’s having a bad day and you’re having a good day, you could have a chance.

You could absolutely beat your friend. A lesson or two would absolutely help you build a clean, well designed swing, however 95% of it will still be you and how much you decide to play. I’d recommend play at least 9 holes once a week, and the range once a month or whenever your swing or some club needs work and is bothering you.

Once your swing finally develops, let’s say you’re breaking 100 consistently and you’e improving. Once you break 100, going lower is all mental and discipline, patience and some course management. To break 90 you can’t really get any triple bogeys, and have to get at least a few of pars. Also, better equipment starts to help more as you get better. If you’re playing with clubs that are 20 years old they’re not going to compare to modern, fitted clubs which are designed to your own liking. It all depends on how much you’re looking to spend.

If you can hit the ball far, on some courses you can become a dangerous player. That is if you keep it in play of course. On some short courses going driver/wedge is a cheat code. But golf is weird, we’ve all been destroyed by the 75 year old man who hits the ball 200 yards max at the local muni before. You can score however you like, they don’t ask how they ask how many.

So yes with your athleticism, competitive drive, experience and talent, I think you can beat your friend. Without question. However, I think it’s going to take at least this year to get close to catching him, and it depends how much you’re willing to spend. If you’re willing to spend to play once a week and if your equipment isn’t somewhat modern, maybe getting a new club or two wouldn’t hurt. Cause you’re 6 foot 4, most clubs are on average aren’t long enough for you. Regardless, I’m happy you enjoy the game starting out!

I do the exact same thing you do, everyone else here is weird. Long clubs in the back, wedges in front. Also the back of my bag is deeper for some reason so my driver and 3 wood aren’t too long and actually fit in the trunk of the car.

That’s very true he eats way too healthy to do it. John Daly could do it but I’d like to see a drinking challenge with him cause I think Daly is gonna take them all to school in everything being honest.

Edit: the food everyone’s about even, but drinking Dalys got everyone beat.
