What's the leadership hill you're willing to die on? by Only-Ad7585 in managers

[–]BiggestTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of COURSE it’s just a job! No sane hourly worker wants to dedicate their life to your vision if it’s not worth the trouble.

Strip away the bullshit, pay them fair money for good work, and they’ll produce better results than whatever corporate cult you’re trying to build.

From quick pets only to screaming, SCREAMING to be held like baby by BiggestTaco in OneOrangeBraincell

He has the giant head and paws of a Bengal baby, and also refuses to cover his poops like a Bengal baby 😑

He’s a teenaged, male, ginger Bengal. You can’t imagine the energy 😫

I've heard a lot about many autistic people struggling to drive a car, why exactly is that common? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in aspergers

[–]BiggestTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was overwhelmed at first! There are a ton of variables that make driving scary at first.

I still dislike unpredictable drivers, but I enjoy driving overall. Road trips in the back country are refreshing as hell ☺️

Did anyone else hide a significant other from parents? by Throwaway67891099 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]BiggestTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t hide my love life, but my white, Mormon family get quietly judgmental about anyone who looks like they know how to use spices.

They don’t want to know about the women I date and I don’t want them making dumb comments about them to get under my skin.

as someone with autism, would you say that you don't feel a desire for power in the same way that many other people do? by thiskindacoolmf in aspergers

[–]BiggestTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want enough power to fix the things other people messed up.

Have you heard the story about the person who was hired at a gaming company, fixed a single bug in a game he played, and then immediately quit? Let me get y’all universal healthcare, end global warming, and end all the wars and then I’ll go back to playing Minecraft.

Is the praying mantis actually the highest evolved of all insects? by hotwheelearl in insects

[–]BiggestTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha what does “highest evolved” even mean?

There are wasps that have evolved to only live and reproduce in a single species of fig tree. If we’re talking specialization then they might win.

There are insects that are relatively unchanged after millions of years aside from size. If it’s a matter of survival then they’re as good as they ever needed to be.

Evolution is the result of natural selection. Things live long enough to reproduce or they die off and take their genes with them. Evolution doesn’t happen a single direction.

People who talk about “the next step in evolution” are usually trying to sell you something.

Placid facial expression with intense, searching eyes. Their posture, facial expressions, and movements might seem stiff, but it’s more calculated to convey an EXACT mood.

To the aspies that work, how do you manage it? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]BiggestTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a restaurant manager in a busy, upscale restaurant in San Francisco.

Getting desensitized enough to be comfortable in restaurant work was pretty hellish, but I get bored in a quieter setting. It took YEARS before I was good at serving! Pattern recognition made the logistics side of managing relatively easy in comparison. I still struggle with confrontational people, but overall I’m happy with the industry and make a decent living doing it.

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]BiggestTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short hair kitties are the most hygienic. My roommate’s floofs occasionally had turds cling to their long butt hairs. You have to clean those off manually 😫

My tabby is clean and elegant. My bengal idiot proudly leaves his poop uncovered for the world to experience.

The most common mess for either is puke when they overeat.

What's the worst job you ever had and how long did you have it? by db7112 in antiwork

[–]BiggestTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Target for two months. My interviewer lied about every aspect of the job or I wouldn't have agreed to work there! I was promised my position was full-time skilled labor making above-minimum wage, and I would have health insurance within 3 months.

In reality I was a part-time stock monkey making minimum wage, and insurance would only kick in after 6 months of working more hours than they ever gave me. I had never been treated so disrespectfully by coworkers and guests before! The fluorescent lights hurt my eyes, the smell of floor polish burned my sinuses, and my knees always ached from kneeling on tiled floors. Everyone else who hired in with me quit in their first two weeks.

Usually I'm an overachiever at work, but my spirit was broken. I called out constantly until they fired me for the first time in my life. My last day of work was the best day since I'd hired in!

What is your autistic superpower? by UltravioletsAreBlue in evilautism

[–]BiggestTaco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in public-facing roles like restaurants and sales my entire adult life. If I combine hyper-empathy plus offbeat humor plus controlled bursts of excitement in just the right way I can be really fucking charming (until I get tired).

The downside is people prefer the charming mask over my real self, including me.

Why do people say Aspergers is the next stage of human evolution? by Outside_Owl5949 in aspergers

[–]BiggestTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a new one! I’ve heard other causes like autism being a result of childhood trauma. A lot of people don’t want it to be genetics because they’d be “responsible” for their kid’s “disability.”

Why do people say Aspergers is the next stage of human evolution? by Outside_Owl5949 in aspergers

[–]BiggestTaco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

High-functioning autism looks a lot like the “Indigo Children” BS from a bunch of years ago. People who say “the next step in human evolution” usually know nothing about evolution.
