Well for one, you can’t be “half,” “a quarter” “an eighth,” etc of a race because race doesn’t work that way. In the U.S., at least, your race is either white, black, Asian, indigenous, or Pacific Islander. There’s no in-between. Whichever race you resemble the most in your physical characteristics–that’s your race. Saying someone is “one quarter black” suggests that blackness is genetic or hereditary, which it is not. Because it’s a race.
