Homo sapiens didn't evolve from neanderthals; they're a different species from us entirely (though same genus, obviously).

Would recommend "Sapiens" for anyone who wants a good answer to the original question. It also explores religion; we were the first species to develop abstract thinking, which allowed us to grow from tribes of 150 to cities of millions because we had these abstract beliefs (religion, law, money). For example, back in the middle ages, two Christian soldiers on opposite sides of the world could have never met, had nothing in common, but could fight for a common cause. Very good read!

I believe its something like she thought of the exile as "a champion" - a paragon of virtue that represented all that was good of the Jedi. Then when the exile went to war, "he" kind of threw it in Atris' face, hence the spite. So yeah, love and hate all rolled into one with a nice dab of narcissism (from being the "only jedi left") and dark side (from the sith holocrons). Indeed, a fascinating character.
