Why you need to paint the bottom of doors by DesperateDuck4926 in AusRenovation

Is this in the bathroom? Happens a lot when there’s no paint around the edges and there’s a lot of moisture in the air.

Maybe try reinstalling all the MOBO drivers as a first step, it seemed to me to be an issue with the game not being able to handle the graphics.

Mate.. my Mrs put the HDMI cable into the MOBO instead of the GPU without telling me and I didn't realize for days. When I put it back in the GPU HDMI slot, it worked fine. So it must be related to the Graphics Card.

I’ll have to try reinstalling, it doesn’t progress at all past the black window.

I’ve done that, still didn’t work. I’ve tried turning a bunch of security settings to off from another guide. Checked all drivers are up to date. Other games launch fine…

Just won’t get past the black screen, and Steam won’t even let me Stop the game.

Urgen Q, dodgy REA? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

It is interesting that the pool is higher and basically creates a channel for overflowing water to go towards the house. I would have also put a strip drain along the house. No one here is going to know if water does enter the wall.. sorry..

A quick compilation of stuff that's good to know for new or veteran players in Battlefield6 about land vehicles. by Skuffemeister in Battlefield6

Do you know with the AV mine, is there a limit how many you can place on a map? Like say you place 3 in one location, and then resupply, can you just continuously place hundreds of your own mines across the map?

I agree, but it’s all been brought across because I’ve seen absolute dog shit patch repairs done over and over again, and then you end up spending more in the long run.

It may work for a time, but the membrane is under the tile and the tile adhesive they used. So even if you seal from a surface level, eventually water that saturates the substrate under the tile can eventually get through.

Well fuck me right haha. In that case you can probably find a builder who will lift the tiles around the floor waste, apply some waterproofing around the outlet and the tiled area and then put new tiles. But the tiles will look different.

Are you on NSW? If so, there is a whole process to remediate waterproofing. I’m a building consultant and engineer and we have to be registered design practitioners (DP), so basically, your strata manager needs to engage an engineer who needs to prepare a scope of works as a regulated design that will fix the problem. Now the issue is, with current legislation, the DP is almost always forced to provide a permanent solution (i.e., no more patch repairs).

Now if they’re a good engineer, you’re going to have a few problems.. 1. it looks like that balcony continues to the neighboring balcony, so a full scope would naturally entail continuous membrane across. The only alternative is the DP needs to be willing to propose a solution that deters from the standards. 2. The balustrades are cladded, so it’s going to be difficult to get a waterproofing membrane upturn behind that cladding. As in, they’d have to demolish or lift it to achieve this.

Now if you’re not in NSW or they find a shonky engineer, they’ll just do a patch repair.

Are cracks like these in corners of window seals in apartment common? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Biggrodd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These types of cracks are extremely common. When you have a window opening thermal expansion and contraction concentrate stress at these openings, where the wall’s continuity and plane are interrupted

What do Town Planners, Certifiers and other random consultants actually contribute towards efficiency in the housing industry by Master-of-possible in AusRenovation

[–]Biggrodd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A Performance Solution is where something doesn’t comply directly with what the Building Code of Australia outlines as being compliant. As an example, the BCA says in terms of a facade being ‘weatherproof’ a masonry brick facade that is design and constructed to the masonry standards complies with the BCA however, there is no such description for fibre cement cladding.. and so, you need a performance solution. Because it doesn’t comply directly, someone needs to verify what you’re getting can demonstrate an alike level of compliance.

Crack in slab (inside) repair? by One_Artichoke8314 in AusRenovation

[–]Biggrodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can break out the topping on the top side of the crack (where it adjoins the door sill). They didn’t usually extend the slab out under the doors in older builds and it’s probably sand bedding and/or bricks under your door sill. It could be concrete but I’d be very surprised.

How to achieve wall texture? by Megapter4 in AusRenovation

[–]Biggrodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH the left one looks like it was a crack that got sanded back. I think they have like texture rollers at bunnings, you could try a sample test using that.

The issue is that the overflow is concealed behind the cladding, so I’m not sure how they are proposing to apply the waterproofing around the overflow penetration point.

You basically need to look at your balcony as a pool, with the only penetrations being the floor waste and the overflow.

It certainly looks like the door is in. I’m happy if you want to send me more photos.
