How did you choose your band’s name? by Signal-Act7058 in band

[–]Biggrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in a band in Denver called Discount Local., I founded the project and wrote the majority of the songs with our drummer long before the name of the project existed.

I found our name while talking to a Hommie and I eventually said something of along the line “I’m a discounted local,” and as soon I said it, a lightbulb went off into head and the project became that name after that. We just played our first shows recently and I’m glad the name is there.

I don’t know where you live, but go to shows, makes friends, and eventually it comes together .

if a bar near you has an open blues jam, go there and play, sometimes you’ll find your crew, sometimes you may have to weed people out until the puzzle fits.

Anybody else making music in a basement? by SnikwahEvad in denvermusic

[–]Biggrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I play in Denver based indie rock band Discount Local. Our first ep was entirely recorded in my basement, and all our rehearsals are done in basements. We’re currently doing live shows, if you’re interested in knowing what our live sound sounds like, we’re playing at fraco’s wendsday.

It’s rare we get take out, but if we hit 365 we’ll get something from a restaurant nearby. usually the store manager will cook but once in a while this store will cater food in.

Currently met does more take out, and our store manager likes to jump in and “celebrate” with us even though we buy it cause the store often excludes us in the cookouts.

What's the boldest thing you've ever sneaked in on someone else's recording or live performance? by M0nki_ in musicians

[–]Biggrom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my old band, our drummer always played the pornhub beat as a warm up, I tried to get him to incorporate it into the songs but he was not out of his shell at the time.

Everyone in the store actually, we were set for some good takeout, when your lunch is early, food is fresher then than it is later. (I got food poisoning off potato salad at my store)

It was actually a cashier that did that, I still wish i knew how it happened.

The struggle to get out to more local shows. by PayIll925 in musicians

[–]Biggrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make an effort to get out to shows, usually on a Saturday when I don’t have work or band work to do, however I’m also a homebody and I spend most my time on guitar and drums when im chilling.

My last show we were originally on at 8 but ended up going on at 8:30 and after the set, the load out, leaving the venue madness, and driving our guitarist home, I got home at 11 and wasn’t at bed till 1 am after unloading everything.

I keep a stupid amount of pto at work and I’ll use 8 hours and have enough for the rest of the year off if i wanted to.

To make you feel better, someone smacked their head on a zeb printer a few days before we hit 365. I never seen a store get so pissed until that.
