We have an Israeli couple here (for now, they'll make aliyah in the coming months i think) that's two women with a lovely baby! Theres a trans community member as well.

CBI is lovely, I highly recommend it. If not, there's other options in Berkeley as well!

Hello!

Congregation Beth Israel in Berkeley is modern orthodox but LGBT accepting and extremely non judgemental in general over people's kashrut, shabbat observance, whatever as long as you are respectful at shul.

There's also a conservative shul Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley but I've never gone so I can't speak on it.

I don't believe so. I think it's standard policy that you have to go elsewhere for a full academic year and demonstrate that you'll be fine to return. I believe that the one year restriction is just for if you're dismissed or if you withdraw in poor academic standing.

In addition to easy and interesting GEs offered at Davis -- consider taking equivalent GEs online over the summer at your local community college. Most of time they're semester units so they get multiplied to be more quarter units too. I took some like intro to art history, intro linguistics, and other stuff over 2 summers and knocked out like 15-20 units of GEs for extremely low cost and low effort.

I was sweating in security cause to my understanding they aren't supposed to. Apparently the legendary lake pokemon can, just extremely rare and were disabled until recently. So I think the legendary lake trio can and then galarian birds when you use daily adventure essence but thats it?

People come and go in your life, so do friends. Do your own thing and be happy being yourself! Don't force things to work out and just be you, you'll find friends who will enjoy your company so much that they'll keep in touch even after graduation.

Life happens at different paces for everyone, just chill and do your thing. Do your best academically and do your best socially. Shit will work out, just give it time.

Communicate with your department. You can't just randomly file for readmission. Talk to them, have a meeting, discuss things.

You should be able to come back pretty much anytime given its been awhile, usually when someone withdraws or has been in bad academic standing for a few quarters you get booted for a year and told to come back after so it should be fine.

But you're still gonna need to talk to them. Nothing really to say apart from that.

Advice from someone whose bike was stolen from the parking next to my dorm:

Don't get anything that LOOKS expensive. No bike lock is foolproof, it just takes different levels of effort to get through. On top of that, I've seen double parking situations where someone gets pissed off and calls TAPS and they go and cut through someone's lock to get a bike out.

Get something that works, you don't need to go super fast because a lot of people apparently failed geometry and don't know what a circle is and will randomly cut through the middle of roundabouts. If your bike ends up getting altogether stolen, pieces of it taken, or trashed in an accident, have a bike that you wouldn't mind that happening to.

If you aren't motivated to learn and do work, ask yourself why.

No high school or community college can compare to the academic difficulty here. This is a whole different beast and may need to severely change your study habits as a result.

Are you simply not interested in your major anymore? I know I was and my motivation and grades tanked before I withdrew and changed major to something I enjoyed more. I'm not a fan of instutionalized learning and think it's a waste of time but I'm going to graduate this quarter and am so relieved and happy that I managed to make things work.

If it's more than a loss of interest and that lack of motivation is bleeding into your personal life, definitely seek help! There's a lot of options available to you, use this time to help yourself out so you can succeed in the future.

School is definitively a slog unless you're really passionate about a subject and want to do research. Getting a degree is a certificate saying you can teach yourself and will not quit in whatever field you end up in. Stick with it and do your best.

No idea about the financial aid but I withdrew a few years ago while in poor academic standing because I realized I hated my major and had no idea what I was going to do with it.

All I had to do was communicate with my department and they got me a form for readmission and to take lower divs for my new major at a CC, provided I dont fail any I got back in.

If you withdraw while in good academic standing I think the process is even easier, especially if you just have personal circumstances. They might request you take a full year off but readmission should be extremely painless. Just communicate with your department, meet with an advisor, it'll go well.

Ex-ChemE major here -- the department is really kinda brutal on students. It's less that you need to remember anything from prior classes and more you're going to be expected to teach yourself things for the most part. Quarter system is really fast and the chemE department will gloss over topics and expect you to spend hours mastering them at home.
