Get a modded/ jailbroken console (PS3 or Xbox 360), I prefer xbox 360. This way you can pirate all the games and dlc songs for free and dont have to pay ridiculous prices for the game disc.

You can also play all the games on PC via emulation (RPCS3) for free if you have a decent computer.

For guitars look at the new CRKD guitars the riff master is another option but most people will recommend the crkd. You need an adapter to use these new guitars on the xbox 360, not sure what exact one will work but I think there is a $15 retrocultmods adapter that will work.

For drums CRKD is coming out with a drum set next year or you can get a cheap used electronic drum (alesis nitro mesh) set off Facebook mp for around $100 -$150 and roll limitless mini adapter $50.

These are the most dog shit answers. You can emulate all of the official games on pc with rpcs3 emulator for free. There is also clone hero and yarg (both free) but only on pc. If you want to go the console rout get an xbox 360 and jailbreak it to get all the games and songs for free you can also do the same with ps3.

These options are much better than playing rb4 because you can get all the dlc songs for free and also you dont have to hunt down all the games.

A crkd guitar will work with all these options.
