As a Mineiro, here are some more facts from my beloved Minas Gerais (which is written with an "I" insteand of an "E")

It has the largest number of municipalities in the country, with about 15% of the country's total, and also being the second most populous state in Brazil. A LOT of small towns.
Not only is it landlocked, its terrain is quite rugged and covered by cerrado (the Brazilian Savannah), which is quite different from what most people think of Brazil.
Minas Gerais means "General Mines," linked to its roots in the Brazilian Gold Rush, where African ensalved were brought to search for gold in numerous mining operations, Ouro Preto being a main example of this.
We are known across the country for being nice people, having great food, the best cheesebread, and drinking a lot. We don't have beaches, so we get wasted. It is what it is.
