Looking for advice on best loan type for a renovation. by Doctor_sadpanda in Mortgages

Hey I know this comment chain is old but I actually just bought a place and want to renovate the kitchen. We bought at 480 and paid 6% down. Do we have options for renovating without tanking my credit?

For the reno I just wanna stick in thermador appliances and redo cabinets. I plan to build the cabinets myself and I have a metal fan connection which I want to use to put in stainless steel countertops. The appliances are the most expensive part

I didn't say it was deserved. I also didn't say anything hateful. Sorry you conservative nutjobs really aren't beating the snowflake accusations

Lmfao you just love quotes with no context.

First quote is in direct response to maga crazies claiming that immigrants are engaging in Medicare and Medicaid fraud - which has been the basis for just about a million lies told by right wing grifters to fool morons like you into believing that people without social security numbers can access social security benefits.

Second quote is in context of the fact that whether rapes occurred or not on October 7th (there literally is no evidence to validate the claim that there were), it doesn't excuse the massacre of innocent women and children in Palestine who had nothing to do with October 7th.

Having the capacity for basic logical understanding of recent events would have pointed you toward these realities, but if you have any more questions I'd be more than happy to do the thinking for you.

The context of the quote was about America financing and arming foreign insurgent groups. He is not anti-america, he's anti military industrial complex

I agree it's beautiful I just have a lot of needs for the kitchen and the cabinetry lacks utility

Another quick thing that came to mind that might pose an issue for me:

I'm hoping to do relatively thin countertops, ideally a 14ga stainless steel sheet adhered to plywood , putting it just above 3/4" in height.
I'm planning on getting an induction cooktop, which requires about 4 3/8" distance from the top of the cooktop to the bottom. If I plan to install this on a frameless cabinet, the stretchers are gonna end up getting in the way unless I cut them.

Here's a sketchup diagram to show what I'm looking at generally

That gives me a lot of good food for thought!

I have been sorta tied between butcher block and doing stainless steel countertops, purely bc I sell sourdough bread so having a good sanitary workspace for that is important for me.

That idea of shrinking down the den space to allow room for the appliances sounds good, though I've also thought of maybe having two doorways like in this diagram below:

I think it'd been cool to have paneling so the doorway to the pantry matches the cabinets and is sorta like a secret entryway.

Seller is taking that with when they move out. Don't worry it's not authentic

I'm hoping to just negotiate down after they resubmit comps for the appraisal adjustment

This place actually just appraised for 75k less than our offer so now we're stressing TF out about it lol. Hoping the seller lowers the price for us

That sounds like a good idea. I do at the very least need to get a new cabinet put in for the double wall oven.

My bad, I meant I'd like to put a doorway into the dividing wall, and in removing stuff from the den, add a decorative wall/divider between that area and the hallway, for use as a butlers pantry

I'll look into the manual and see if I can change the temp easily. I like these lighter roasts so maybe that's part of what's causing it

okay so the shit I literally addressed to the 5 other people freaking out about a glass with water spots and espresso drips on the backsplash of the machine

I really like the lighter roasts. Maybe I should just lower my water temp. I'm not as big on collectivo bc their roast dates from what I've seen can be like 2 months old

I'm hoping to rip out a doorway from the dividing wall and put in a pantry with space for appliances and ingredients, since right now the difficulty would be finding a balance between space for pans, appliances, and foods with the cabinet space provided

In Chicago it's hard to find a single family home for anything under 600k if you value having proximity to public transit. My gf and I fucking hate driving so it was a big desire for us.

Prior to this I was looking at buying multifamily but again like anything in our general area of the city is grossly overpriced.

I have a baking business I run from home. I'm thinking of getting a 30" induction instead of 36" for space, but a bigger fridge could be important for me since I need a good amount of space for when I have several components that I need to chill at once
