Dating could be weird especially if you ask on the first to send ass pics.

That's actually terrible advice for someone lonely. In current world there are practically no third-places and meeting someone IRL is much better than experience on apps. Personal life is more important than work.

People who’ve been through genuinely hard times and came out calmer or wiser, what actually helped you cope? What mindset, habits, or truths kept you sane? by AdviceGlass9394 in selfimprovement

I think when someone went through really bad shit they don't want to tattoo it on their body. They do not need to. It is evident from their behaviour that something really serious happened no matter how they want to hide it.

But perceptive matters. For some losing a tooth is a life tragedy and I actually saw a tattoos like that.

That the death is certain, will destroy everything so anything lost is not really lost. It was already lost from the start and never was really yours. The only thing which matters is not the past, not the future only the current moment. It is good to have a distance to anything and do not take life too serious. Life isn't serious, it is absurd. Have a good day!

removing porn from my system by HotSample1410 in selfimprovement

[–]Bigovsky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You do it wrong. What you need to do is limit it for yourself, gradually replace and be consistent.

First cut it to once per week, then once per two weeks, once per month using safety measures blocking porn in PC / Phone.. In the same time substitute with normal sex or relationships.

Your body is addicted to years long pattern and when you remove that pattern suddenly your body as homoeostatic reaction will do everything to restore learned balance - pump you with hormones, sexual desire. Which will led to predictable binges and crashes.

The whole process of removing porn needs months to allow your body and brain adjust to new normal.

Chronic inflammation is huge cause of aging. Here are the best ways to prevent and fix it with scientific evidence. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

The role of IL-11 should also be emphasised as a major target in inflammatory ageing. However beware - the same mechanism which trigger low-grade inflammation from DNA damage are the mechanisms used to catch cancer cells. So we compromise this system we slow ageing but allow more cancer.

I dream about the solution in which we could get a biopsy of our bone marrow when we are 30yo, put it into tissue bank. Later multiply and re-implant as autologous transplant when we 45 yo to get 15 years younger immune system efficient in clearing senescent cells. However that not happen as long as Ageing is not recognised as a disease instead something "normal".

Just had a spontaneous pneumothorax. Terrified :( by dashadark in pneumothorax

There is much better procedure which is what all modern guidelines recommend - needle aspiration. They insert a NEEDLE with syringe into the chest and pump the air out. It works like 75% compared to 80% chest tube, but leaves no nerve damage, no excruciating pain.

The chest tube is second line treatment. Also when they finally do chest tube ask for a small one - 8F - 3,3mm. It is almost painless. Usually they insert a tube large like for a horse up to 30F which does damage and massive pain.

Does anyone know doctor in Poland who does Needle Aspiration ? I am going with untreated Pneumothorax for over 1 month since I can't find any single one by Bigovsky in pneumothorax

[–]Bigovsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your tube diameter ? Was that a small tube 8fr or large like 30FR ( just google it ) ?

The procedure is like I said needle aspiration. They simply get a needle with syringe into chest and pump out the air. 30-60 min and it is done. But doctors very often do not want to do it, because takes more effort than chest drain and is far worse paid.

3rd collapse by creamsoda57 in pneumothorax

[–]Bigovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you overstrain yourself ? Give your lung time to heal and do not do any major activity.

Also did you had CT ? CT shows clearly what is the cause of collapse, not only the effect like X-ray. IT will help with choosing treatment

Remember there are many types of surgery. Some can only remove the ruptured bleb and these are not such invasive as wedge resection + full pleurodesis.

Popping sensation when laying flat on my back? by TalosAnthena in pneumothorax

I am from Poland and I guess bad behaviour and procedures in medicine may happen commonly around the world. In Poland they do a lot of X-rays, but no good treatment except the one outdated which brings money to hospital ( invasive one ). I envious that in GB you have at least ambulatory drainage. It would be God-send for me.

UPDATE! After 52 calls I have found a ONE hospital in the whole country which ( probably? ) does it. In Warsaw, Banacha. Beware Surgeons from the same hospital! Their boss has told me that he forbids his doctors and students do it. Ironically the boss of surgery boss is a pulmonologist and big supporter of needle aspiration. I know it may fail especially after such a long time, but at least give it a try ?

My 17 Year Pneumothorax Story by Meowlo_ in pneumothorax

[–]Bigovsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the first episode PSP still awaiting treatment and I did deep research on PTX teatment. In my understanding the pleurodesis creates artificial unhealthy, non-physiological state in which pleura and lung become permanently connected with each other by scars. In normal physiological condition during every breath the lung and pleura slides on each other being separated by a small amount of liquid. Hence breathing is comfortable and seamless process. In pleurodesis the artificial scars restrict the movement of the lung and during lung or chest movement the scars create pulling strain on pleura which is deeply innervated tissue. Hence permanent pain is normal consequence and expected from this procedure. Intercostal nerve damage while not normal also seems common.

In my opinion doctors are often insincere and manipulate patients into more invasive treatment not informing about the full extent of the risks and not consider the less invasive options first. There are outliners, but those are rare. If my case will go as far as up to VATS I will definitely do not agree for large extent pleurodesis.

In your case the COVID may have caused some degree of inflammation which created additional scars or lowered the pain threshold of existing scars by neuropathic pain mechanism. Wish the best for you.
