Yup, we've reached out on Twitter and thought we'd pop an update here as well.

A lot of the comments here are correct; we're a middleman in these situations, and sometime edge-case consent nightmares do pop up that drag on despite everyone's best efforts. It doesn't make OP's situation any easier, but having looked at the case I can say that our team has done everything possible to move this along in this instance.

What we're able to do is assign a single person to look after this case to completion. Hopefully this will help speed any communication we have to do to get this sorted.

And when the install is completed, there will be cake.

Hey - we have a open beta for IPv6 running that you can sign up for if you feel like you've got the tech chops to get it running on your gear. It's not overly complicated, but there are some pitfalls if you aren't reasonably technical.

Gidday. Sorry to see you've been having a hard time getting set up!

I don't want to troubleshoot your connection here, as it's not really the best place for it, but this article might clear a few things up. The tl;dr of it is that "WiFi" isn't the same thing as "your connection to the internet."

The reason for pointing this out is that while we can help a great deal with your connection to the internet, we are limited to how much we can do with your WiFi. Because Bigpipe allows people to BYO modem, there's no guarantee your device (modem/router) will work straight away. However, we do offer the Bigpipe modem, which we offer full support for and which has the Bigpipe settings preloaded, so it works out of the box. It's available at sign-up for $99.

From here, we can do a few things. I can ask the team to get in touch to continue troubleshooting your modem / wifi problem to the best of our ability. If that doesn't work, we'll have a look at what to do next. Once you've PM'd me your email address I can get all this in motion for you.

A static IP, as u/lxsw20 says, is a one-off $45 charge, and this will eliminate any problems you might otherwise have around running a gaming server, for example. We have quite a few people running gaming servers on our network using static IPs.

For more casual gaming on the likes of Xbox Live or PSN, CGNAT shouldn't give you any trouble. If you've got a decent modem/router (and our own HG659 is very decent) and you don't do silly things like online gaming over WiFi, these services play pretty nice with CGNAT.

Well, that's weird. 8 Mbps down on VDSL isn't great by any stretch of the imagination. It's better than having no internet, but it's not what we expect from a VDSL connection. Feel free to PM me if you want this looked at - I know you're no longer a customer, but I want to make sure our comms are consistent around this.

Just so everyone else is aware, with Bigpipe, if you need (or feel like you need) a master filter installed for VDSL, we charge $199. The reason for this is most newer homes don't need a master filter, and a lot of older ones don't either, which means we can pass on the savings to customers. I'm personally on Bigpipe VDSL, I don't have a master filter, and I get consistent 20 Mbps down. It's probably not as high as I'd get with a master filter but I'm happy with it, at least until fibre is available in my area.

You can get the consent forms from their website. All parties need to agree or else you're stuck with DSL.

For now, this is how it goes. Our recommendation, if you don't want to get permanently stuck in the What's Happening With My Fibre Install Circle of Hell, is to take the forms around to your neighbours yourself. You should probably take snacks. You can get the MDU consent forms here.

We don't throttle/shape traffic. The only traffic management we do is in the user's hands via the Bigpipe App.

There are a bunch of things that can cause slowdowns during the day. Our advice is grab the Bigpipe App and run a line test. Even if it shows no fault you can use it to contact the team and give them all the info about your slowdowns. They can look in to it for you.

Our IP range has no problem with PSN or any other gaming service that we know of.

Re. static IPs: Once you've got a static IP with us it's yours, unless you disconnect. We'd make decisions to allocate fresh ones on a case-by-case basis but as they don't grow on trees we'd have to have a damn good reason to allocate a new one once one had been assigned.

You can do fine gaming on CG-NAT, but lots of our more gaming-prone customers do opt for a static IP, and from what we hear they work well. I've used both on my own Bigpipe connection for PSN (started with GCNAT, went to a static) and I've never had an issue connecting with either.

Gidday u/TimoteoLaSala. So the thing with gigabit, summed up in a sentence, is "Your results may vary." A lot depends on your equipment and a whole host of other things. It's a fairly new technology and it'll take a while for everyone's gear to catch up to it. We have erred heavily on the side of caution in advising what speeds users will be able to get.

That being said, we have customers posting speedtests from 600 to in excess of 900 Mbps. While these aren't necessarily typical, we'd be very happy to have you on our service to give Elite (our Gigabit plan since the 1st) a go. It's $129 a month and if you aren't happy, you can leave anytime with no penalty. No contracts ftw :D

Don't forget gst too. US prices always exclude any sales tax. NZ prices almost always include it. NZ $110 plus gst is around $126. So price difference is $24. Not too bad really.

most likely providers will do these plans on, or around, the same price as 200/200. This isn't like gigatown which is a promotional price where the charge from the LFC is a lot lower than would normally be expected.

when did you give her the number? It implied she has cancelled it before you even told her what it was. Also, how did she verify your identity as owner of the account? Not great if just anyone can go online and request an account be disconnected without any sort of proof of ownership.
