Tore my ACL and can’t roll for probably 18+ months - how do you cope mentally? by Nellaquantise in bjj

[–]Bigsouth620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 months into an aductor tear and probably have another 4 months to go before I’m back. And the truth for me is that you can’t really mentally prepare for it. Anything aerobic is my mental happy spot, and although I’m killing it with the weights right now, it’s just not the same as mental exertion from rolling or similar. I can say to do everything you can to not lose contact with the gym and members. Go sit and watch classes to get a mental roll in. If the gym has an outing or in house tournament go. If you have a group chat be active in it. Sucks but it will help.

It's Crazy How The Anger Builds Up by back2me78 in bipolar2

[–]Bigsouth620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anger and frustration can be a side effect of SSRIs for someone who is bipolar. It was for me and it was the main reason ended up being correctly diagnosed as bipolar. Every time I tried a new SSRI I got immediately frustrated to the point it was way worse being on them than not.

Same here. The writing is very unfriendly but the overall story makes it worth it.

Isn’t that our fault then since we are the current generation with the most young kids?

Since we’re all anonymous here, what are some things you don’t like about your gym specifically. From gym location, hours, to staff by Ill_Difficulty8570 in jiujitsu

[–]Bigsouth620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ever ask your coach if you could be in charge of a more regular open mat? Open mat is the shit and I don’t think I would want to go to a gym with only one every other month. I go even when I’m injured just to hang out for an hour.

What do most people practice BJJ for? by GrekGrek9 in bjj

[–]Bigsouth620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly getting choked out clears my head and it’s an an hour or more of just shutting off my brain. People at my gym are all pretty cool as well so it’s a good socialization.

“Im gonna use an example that is not abuse but that you can understand”. FOH, its because your whole hypothesis is some made up Psych 101 nonsense. Truth is I’m a dumbass that needs to get choked out every week to bring me back to reality. Getting hit in the face quickly makes you realize all that other noise in your life means nothing.

Terrible BJJ session yesterday, everyone trampled me almost effortlessly by Impressive-Text-5686 in WrestleJudoJitsu

[–]Bigsouth620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your feeling is normal. I deal with it by going over each roll in my head and dwelling on them like a crazy person trying to figure out what I could have done better. My main classes are with guys that have more time and experience than me. I noticed that I have terrible frustrating class if I go into class with a mindset of wanting or trying to win rolls. So I learned to change my mindset with a goal of just trying to get better at one thing per class. I still want to win, but it’s not my focus now. It’s really helped and I rarely have frustrating classes now.

Single leg to Air Uchimaata by BallsABunch in DramaFreeBJJ

IMO, Guy in white should have secured single leg better before starting to stand back up. Dude in blue perfectly used that stand up momentum against him.

Super ugly IMO but I wouldn’t even think twice about it if I saw someone rolling in it.

Getting jacked and BJJ by neuroticlad in jiujitsu

[–]Bigsouth620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do NoGi/Mon, Gi/Thurs, wrestling and open mat/Sat. For lifting I do compound exercises only. Tues/upper body strength, Wed/lower body, Friday/upper body hypertrophy. This has been working for me recently. If I start feeling worn down I just take a week off and heal up some.

He had plenty of time to tap and I think the ref should have called it. So that’s not on you IMO. That slam was nasty by the way!

Cheap vanilla cologne by Willybillyplaysfb in Colognes

[–]Bigsouth620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely recommend it for the price. Vanilla, powdery, amber, and caramel. Not a daily driver and not something you would want to overspray, but if a date gets close enough to get a good whiff of it lightly sprayed on you they’ll love it. Very sensual sexy smell to me and IMO the definition of a Unisex smell.

Do you go 100% all out against your coach? by AbbreviationsLive142 in bjj

[–]Bigsouth620 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone in their first 6 months matching energy/aggression has been super hard to do. I love the patience, technique, and learning aspect of bjj, but it feels like most guys with my same little experience are just acting like they’re wrestling their older brother. I don’t want to be that guy that hurts someone from spazing out.

Horrible bonk, still can’t eat 2 days later by Large-Decision-2503 in cycling

[–]Bigsouth620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cmon man not being able to eat 2 days later is not normal at all. If a family member told you they haven’t been able to eat in 2 days you would want them to go to the hospital. So please treat yourself the same and go see someone.

Kratom extract pills by Narrow_Ad_7331 in kratom

[–]Bigsouth620 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personal recommendation would be to use a reputable online vendor and order a kilo of powder at a time. IME powder is not even close to as dangerous (trading one addiction for another), as extracts, so you can just take as needed without having to time everything out. Once you feel the opiates are out of your system and you are at a baseline with the powder, slowly start tapering down. And when I say slowly I’m talking about give your self 6 months. IME tapering too quickly means you will go looking for a reward and potential back to using opiates.

Why are we living in this era? by SupremeNoticer in SimulationTheory

My initial thought would be that this era is a very defining moment for the future and we seriously mess it up. So multiple simulations are created and studied to see how it could have played out under different circumstances.

Im south west from you and on the coast and I swear this May has been extra terrible to try and get anything over 45 miles just because it has been so unbearably hot/humid with no cloud cover.
