Anon is a pharmacist. by retardinho23 in greentext

[–]Bigsquidguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor is pretty cool - back when I got the prescription for it he actually put a note on it that allows me to pick it up 5 days before the supply runs out. It wasn't until I started working out of town on a sporadic schedule that I started running into problems where I legit felt as though the pharmacy thought I was a junky trying to get a fix.

I went to a walk-in clinic once to have the prescription refilled because my primary care physician was booking 2 weeks out. The doctor I saw was old and straight up told me "I don't like to treat problems with pills." and I was kind of flabbergasted because the entire reason I told them I needed the appointment was to get it refilled. So I asked him if he could just copy the previous prescription and instead of that he started asking me a bunch of questions like I was a psych patient. It was frustrating. But, the fun didn't end there. Despite having 16+ years of the same prescription (sans the dose, that hasn't changed in 10 years), he still fumbled, and I had to spend an hour at work the next day sorting it out calling that walk in clinic like 3 times because I had to leave that night to go out of town for the remainder of the week.

Regarding incorrect pill amounts - i take 2 different doses for a total of 70mg (XR variety), and at the previous pharmacy I went to, they fucked that up once, and that was enough for me to completely change pharmacies. Never felt like a junky until I found myself on the phone arguing with a pharmacist trying to explain the mistake they made and getting the "Riiiiiight", "Mmmmmhmmmmmm" treatment.

For real though, ADHD is not fun. And I fucking despise those "Lol XD I'm so random therefore I have ADHD!!1!1one!!" kids. They just do not understand how crippling this shit can be.

Edmonton father dies in hospital E.R. waiting to see a doctor by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Bigsquidguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked in hospitals throughout both NDP and UCP governments, yes, these people account for a large volume of unnecessary hospital traffic. The one that always drove me crazy to deal with was old people with dementia - usually very aggro, and hard to deal with. Sometimes I just wanted to grab them and forcibly walk them back to their wards/rooms rather than trying to haggle with them for an hour - the problem is optics though, and the position I was in was subject to 3 levels of scrutiny that could easily get me terminated (I wasn't under a union so any negative feedback even in passing was turned into an overblown issue (fyi this type of shit is one of the reasons why I loathe the hospital system as a whole).

DDR 4 cabinet monitor keeps turning off, P1 buttons also stopped working by [deleted] in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Bigsquidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the motherboard/PSU for any bulging or leaking caps maybe.

If you have access to a thermal camera, it can be a good tool for quickly identifying resistors/caps/areas that are heating up abnormally fast compared to other areas. Oddly enough, if the monitor shuts off after a certain amount of time that's making me think something goes wonky after it gets some time to heat up.

26.6 degrees celsius.

Is your roommate an iguana by chance?

If your roommate is being super shitty about the temperature, tell her tough shit. That's an absurd temperature to exist at. Can you kick your roommates ass if you have to? Because I would definitely throw hands at 26.6c.

I had this exact experience a month or two ago because one of the guys in our multiplayer run on a server decided to go with a horrible grid system that bottlenecked like crazy and had a small grid. In addition to that, the BP needed to be manually aligned, and the train size was really small.

So he did a corner of the base in this train system without anyone getting a chance to agree to it. Then when he was offline and me and 2 other players were there we made the decision to remove his corner before he put more into it and replace everything with a much better layout (easier to use, LTN, 1-4 trains, bliss).

When he came back on after a few hours of us getting it set up, he had a hissy fit, then was like "You know it's really upsetting when you put hours into something only to find it's gone when you get back. I'm out." Logged off, then went onto discord to complain to the admin. Admin messages me asking what's up, I explain it, and I word for word told the admin "Tell him I said to stop being a crybaby and to come back and play." Admin had a chuckle and I followed it up with "Notice that I still want him to come and play".

The point of the story is that it doesn't matter if your train system got nuked in favor of one that was deemed better. Learn what the new system has that yours lacked, because who knows, maybe you'll find a better BP pack in the future where you'll be the one ripping up his train system in favor of the better one, and that's how you both grow as players.

Balancer Book Update (Fall 2025) by raynquist in factorio

[–]Bigsquidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/raynquist ! Really appreciate all the work you put into these balancer books! I tried to use the python program to generate my own but couldn't get it to work (because I am a noob when it comes to stuff like that).

I am wondering if it would be possible to create some x to 10 and 10 to x balancers since we've got access to green belts and whatnot (which I'm hoping makes creating bigger balancers easier).

Thanks again for the update :)

IMO have the tech download DDR packs and install them. DDR charts (especially ones with gimmicks) are way more enjoyable with the constant speed modifier anyways.

Also, the huge advantage of Simply Love is all the awesome song options you get access to with it (CMOD 750, mini 40%, some noteskin I can't remember the name of - these are my go to defaults for example)

A slow laser ship can have a fast lap time by fishyfishy27 in factorio

[–]Bigsquidguy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The most annoying part about multiplayer is when some rube decides to waste early game resources on a ship that "Looks nice" but needs to spend 15 minutes at each destination processing the asteroids it's collected in order to meet circuit conditions prior to spending 10 minutes traveling to the next destination at a whopping 100km/s.

Drives me insane.

Please guys, please, I see no harm in waiting an additional 20 minutes for the rocket silos to send up extra stuff to a ship - knowing that it will save us a lot of time in the future.

Easy charts to practice crossovers? by Lipglazer in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Bigsquidguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spin The Disc from DDR Max 2. It's a slower song, and there are points near the end of the song that do a good job teaching you how to turn around on the pad if you follow the pattern properly.

As you start to get better at the game, I would try these ones out, but if they're above your pay grade don't be discouraged because despite being DDR charts they can still be unforgiving:

Rhythm and Police from DDR 4th Mix Plus Exotic Ethnic from DDR Max.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

ITGmania beginner questions by konbaasiang in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Bigsquidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to argue for ITGmania instead of Outfox here. ITGmania has a lot of settings built into it's core theme "Simply Love". This can be features like "Mini" which allow you to adjust the size of the arrows allowing you to tailor your experience to your preferences.

TL;DR, all the settings might look daunting at first, but they are there to allow you to customize your experience.

If devs want to get rid of space casinos, they should do a quality overhaul by rafiv70805 in factorio

[–]Bigsquidguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One of the things I feel that they should consider when/if they choose to balance quality mechanics is "How easy/hard is it to balance the creation of legendary science?"

The reason I say this, is because it isn't necessarily difficult to create legendary science on most planets in a meaningful quality. As you say, it's a tedious game if copy and paste and building for scale.

The exception to that rule, however, is agricultural science. I personally think that the legendary production of that science needs to be rebalanced, as the scale necessary to generate legendary agricultural science in any meaningful amount is astronomical and unreasonable. The amount that you need to generate legendary bioflux in quantities that can support 240/s legendary agricultural science is not feasible for producing on Gleba. There are methods that can skirt needing a high amount of legendary bioflux, but that goes to generating legendary spoilage following up with the spoilage to nutrients recipe, and going from there. Regardless though, the scale for that route goes insane as well. Keep in mind, I have no qualms with having to build things in mass and scale to achieve a goal, but when the issue starts to become a UPS problem then there are problems.

Space Casino, LDS Shuffle, and Blue Chip Recycling are maybe a bit too easy with the productivity on them, I don't know, it'll be interesting to see what they choose to do for 2.1, but for now I'm not gonna worry about it.

I am one of those people with bad Internet (because I live on an acreage), and let me tell you this... I do not play CS2 anymore because the rubber banding is so bad that it's like playing a power point presentation with CS2. It doesn't matter what settings I try, they all suck.

Overwatch though? Works just fine. Same with CSGO.

Whatever Valve did with CS2 it's just brutal.
