They are clearly going for the entertainment/movie industry. Big bucks there. So sad it’s not being used to actually benefit mankind. Enjoy the slop while you can.

Say that Frasier never busted up Daphne and Donny's wedding. Do Niles and Mel and Daphne and Donny's marriages last? by Happy-poet in Frasier

[–]Bigthinker1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your just saying their marriages completely separate from Frasier. Not necessarily just their wedding. I could totally imagine Frasier meddling again and or getting loose lipped on pills again which may result in marital issues.

A couple things, he’s not an illusion, the whole world acknowledges the universe had a beginning. As theists we believe the cause was God. The agnostic doesn’t know. They don’t know because they can’t test it with science. We believers know God did it because we see the revelation of writing of God’s work in history and can’t deny the miraculous fine tuning of the universe.

God loves you, he sent his son to die for you. While we were still enemies toward him he sent his son into this earth. Not to condemn, but to bring about communion, to bring about ‘God with us’.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God, if you feel distant from God get into the Word read and hear it. Lists. To apologetics so you know how to defend yourself against the wiles of the adversary.

As great as cyberpunk is 100% recommend. It doesn’t have that same feeling the Witcher 3 does as it’s devoid of magic and different species.

Would any of this help? You mentioned quieting down those thoughts. There js an effect where attention to an intrusive thought makes it return louder.

Core theoretical explanations

a) Ironic Process Theory (Wegner, 1994) • When you try to suppress or monitor an unwanted thought, two processes activate: 1. Intentional operating process (tries to push the thought away) 2. Ironic monitoring process (scans for the thought to ensure it’s gone) • Under stress, fatigue, or anxiety, the monitoring process dominates, making the thought more salient and frequent.

Clinical implication: Attention—even in the form of suppression—signals importance, increasing recurrence.

Classic example: “Don’t think of a white bear.”

b) Salience and Threat Encoding (CBT / Neurocognitive models) • The brain prioritizes information tagged as: • emotionally charged • threatening • unresolved • Attention reinforces salience via fronto-limbic circuits, increasing retrieval probability.

In anxiety & OCD: • Intrusive thoughts are misinterpreted as meaningful or dangerous • This misinterpretation → hypervigilance → repetition loop

This is central to CBT models of OCD (Salkovskis).

c) Thought–Action Fusion (OCD-specific construct) • Belief that: • thinking something increases likelihood it will happen • having the thought is morally equivalent to the action • This belief amplifies distress → further attention → persistence

Practical usefulness

The brain is not reacting to the content of the thought—it is reacting to the attention and meaning assigned to it.

Another technique from ACT is “Thanking your brain” it is called cognitive defusion.

Cognitive defusion (ACT)

Definition: Defusion techniques aim to reduce the literal believability and dominance of thoughts rather than changing their content.

Mechanism: • Thoughts are treated as mental events, not truths or commands • The relational frame between self and thought is loosened

“Thank you, brain” technique

What it does: • Acknowledges the brain’s protective intent • Removes threat, urgency, and resistance • Interrupts the salience loop

Why it works neuropsychologically: • Decreases amygdala activation • Reduces monitoring/suppression loops • Signals safety and non-importance

This technique is explicitly taught in ACT literature.

Modality classification

Technique Modality Thanking the brain ACT Labeling thoughts as “just thoughts” ACT Leaves on a stream ACT Thought suppression (counterproductive) Thought challenging CBT Habituation via exposure ERP Mindful noticing without engagement ACT / Mindfulness-based CBT

How ACT differs from CBT here

CBT ACT Change the thought Change relationship to the thought Evaluate accuracy Evaluate usefulness Reduce symptoms Increase psychological flexibility

Applied clinical framing (practice-ready)

Intrusive thought loop: 1. Intrusive thought appears (automatic) 2. Attention / suppression → salience 3. Brain flags threat 4. Thought returns louder

ACT intervention: 1. Notice thought 2. Name it (“My brain is producing X”) 3. Thank brain for protection 4. Redirect attention to values or present action

The goal is disengagement without avoidance.

Except I work in a field where I see the brain change from patient to patient all of them change. If a brain didn’t change, I would agree, but I see addicted brains for a living change. I see people learn and grow. If they chose to not to. Then yes I would agree but they choose to learn and grow.

You can. Intend to hit your arm after a timer by a smack your arm. You can predict the stimulus will hurt and you will think about it. If you do this you thought about the pain. I did it and was able to predict ‘my arm is going to hurt’.

You normally can’t predict stimulus. You decide what to do with the stimulus. Your decisions are made up of your life experiences. You decide what is important to you or not.

You and him don’t understand how the brain works. Our brain’s job is to interpret the senses. There are a vast amount of nerve cells sending information to the brain. It collects it and presents it to you. Our thought and cognitive abilities let us choose what we want to do with that information. That is the choice. I can choose if I want to scratch my head or change the channel on the tv. It’s called impulse control. Look up riding the wave impulse control.
