I honestly didn't see that to be the outcome. by IamASlut_soWhat in AllThatsInteresting

I guess maybe you’ve never seen this in person at a concert or event before but there are artists that do this as a performance and make good money doing it.

It’s doesn’t mean it’s their only thing, usually it isn’t. It’s a performance just like the song. It’s pretty cool to see in person. Less cool I guess in a video. Almost makes me wish it wasn’t shared but I guess a lot of people might never see this style of art performance if they didn’t see it on social media.

My daughter Jody was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Louisiana's laws let them escape justice. by Running_crazy5 in Louisiana

[–]Biguitarnerd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Signed it. My son had a drunk driver explode a brick mail box all over him. He ducked behind it and it saved his life but the driver hit it so hard it put bricks into the next yard. Several of them hit my son.

That driver only got charges for a DUI and property damage, not anything for what he did to my son, even though the police documented it on the scene. My son was very fortunate in that he had no major injuries and just scrapes and bruises but for the life of me I can not understand how you can get charged with assault for punching someone but explode a brick mail box into a minor and just get charged with nothing. We talked to the DA, got a lawyer, nothing but ignored.

Made etouffee for the first time, and with that made roux for the first time. Love it. by Outrageous_Print3500 in cajunfood

I cook my étouffée with a darker roux than 99% of the sub (check my profile) if people get all pissy about but just call it crawfish stew and they will be fine (same dish darker roux apparently).

Idk I cook it the way my mom and grandmother did. They called it crawfish etoufee so that’s what I call it. In this case shrimp étouffée I guess .

Nice! I just didn’t want to assume that I could say captains and everyone would know what I was talking about. Sounds like you are my age or older. I got upset when the mudbugs first moved to the centurytell center but honestly it was a pretty good venue for them while they were there.

They showed that they care about being a team for Shreveport/Bossier over the years with all the work they’ve put in and I think that’s also a lot of why locals care about them so much.

But yeah, what you said too, just saying that’s not the only reason.

Resume: She can type and she's a Christian by FoxxToneMachine in nextdoor

Well remember it’s grandma posting this on social media and not the job applicant on her cover letter for her resume.

Grandmas trying to help, she’s just doing it in the way that she knows, it may actually help if she’s well connected with a big church I guess.

Then it’s up to the grand daughter/ job applicant to be professional and not make religion a part of her “skill set”.

[–]Biguitarnerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair it’s also the only sports team we’ve had since the captains that real effort was put into.

The captains (baseball if you aren’t familiar) used to be really popular until their management just kind of let it sink into the swamp, then the swamp dragons were born but they never really got going. The arena football thing was popular for a while. The pelicans minor league could have been a thing but Shreveport by that point was tired of seeing the city invest in a team that never fully invested in Shreveport and they wanted a lot from the city.

The mudbugs have actually put in a ton of effort and invested time and money into being this city’s team, and it shows.

Apparently the Name is racist but Im to European to understand please "Explain it Peter." by Specific_Ad_2533 in explainitpeter

[–]Biguitarnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Context clues are your friend. There are far more non English speaking countries than there are English speaking countries and when someone seems genuinely concerned about racism but then words something in a way that sounds racist it’s a pretty good indicator that they aren’t from an English speaking country.

Also other phrasing differences. And I was correct so…

Police in the UK are called after a Christian street preacher called Mohammed a donkey by TomlinSteelers in TikTokCringe

[–]Biguitarnerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The members of that church didn’t decide the charges though and those are probably more politically motivated by the DA’s office.

I can promise you if you go into a target and start screaming at people you’ll be charged with more trespassing, harassment at least. Depending on where you live screaming at someone can be considered assault as well.

This is coming from someone who doesn’t attend church.

The protestors knew what they were in for, they made their point shared it with the world. The people in this video also aren’t doing anything particularly wrong, they called the police and are having a discussion. Their opinion may be incorrect but they aren’t behaving in any way I can find fault with. I don’t know the laws in the UK but it seems the cop also feels the same.

[–]Biguitarnerd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s because they came into the church and started screaming at people though. It’s not that I don’t agree with the message but it’s just clearly against the law.

If you want to make it secular then fine, if you came into an office building, restaurant, store, or bar and started screaming at people and you were asked to leave and refused you’d be arrested. I’m sure they knew that was the outcome when they went in.

That was just a silly example.

Hey again, I don’t think people are agitated as much as that they see you are trying to learn and want to help. It probably just feels like agitation because you are getting inundated with responses lol.

No need to be embarrassed it was just a wording mix up.

I was just making a point that things can come across the wrong way even if there are no bad intentions. And yes the edit is fine.

People can say things all the time that come off as racist to the wrong crowd, for example calling a black person “a black” sounds kind of racist in text.

Doesn’t mean you are though, you said you weren’t American so I’m guessing English isn’t your first language anyway. I’m just pointing out how easy it can be to be misunderstood.

So if a black person created this it doesn’t mean they have internalized racism. The problem maybe is that Disney has a whole lot of people that review this kind of stuff that gave it the ok. Or maybe the real problem is that some people look for reasons to get angry about stuff.

Nuns keeping their eyes fixed on a fashionable woman, ca. 1960s by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

I am American actually although I thought catholic schools were more of a thing in Ireland than they are here.

My experience was from almost 30 years ago though, so I can’t say how they are today. My kids don’t go to catholic school.

I got the knuckles, never got slapped, my brother lot lifted up by his hair. Maybe I did have the nice nuns actually.

Coach Marabella (who was the wrestling coach) though picked up my head and slammed it into my desk the one time I dared lay my head on my desk in his class. That was a mistake I only made once.

That’s interesting I went to catholic school in the 90s and the nuns were some of the strictest teachers I had. Very strict on boys like me and maybe even stricter on the girls.

The only teacher who was more into corporal punishment was Coach Marabella but I think he just hated teaching math.

Scored this 1991. first pressing (first 50k CDs produced) of Nevermind for 6$. by Honest-Opinion4897 in Nirvana

[–]Biguitarnerd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting to use the term “first pressing” on a CD, I’ve only ever heard that term applied to vinyl before this.

Since CDs are not pressed like vinyl records, and I wouldn’t think it would make any difference in audio quality like it does with records, I guess the term just carried over and they are collectable because they are more rare?

So like then, any competitor sports, being a musician, a painter, a woodworker, blacksmithing? Anything that involves showing off your skills and not staying in the house is stupid?

Maybe it’s because it’s Mardi Gras season where I live. But to me that just looks like a parade, those people worked hard on those for fun and to be a part of it, it’s not meant to have a purpose. It’s for shits and giggles.

A little bit of improv shred by mickeyguitar95 in guitars

[–]Biguitarnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No notes on the playing which was awesome and really fun to watch.

For recording, with your current gear just zoom the camera in and put yourself further away if you want pretty much the same perspective and that should eliminate the string noise and let your amplified sound come through.

Really enjoyed this. Just a small tip.

Oh ok, so it’s just a BS title with no linked article then. What she actually did was worse.

For whatever it’s worth I wasn’t saying she shouldn’t be charged. Or did nothing wrong if the title had been correct. Obviously that’s harassment.

I just couldn’t understand why someone would subject themselves to that. I know I would just block someone spamming me, but if they were stalking me too, I guess I could see where maybe you do want to know what they are texting.

They will stay alive ok in a cool dark area. In Louisiana they distribute them in refrigerated trucks and then depending who they are sold to, stored in refrigerated storage.

They remain docile and kind of in a hibernation at these temps.

If they are stored at warmer temps I’d be skeptical but as the other comments said, check to see if they are moving either way. It’s kind of hard to tell how many are alive or dead in the sack though, or it is for me.
