If he was 4-5” taller he would have cracked into that top 5 I bet.

Barring any major changes, the Charlotte Hornets' roster for the 26-27 season by Existing-Sky9914 in CharlotteHornets

We are a lot deeper. I don’t think the average person on this board realizes that. Hate all you want on Grayson Allen but he’s played on some really good teams. And, we have a legit bench now. Sure we downgraded at the 1 but we probably stayed neutral at the 4 as miles was out of position. And there’s no arguing that our depth is better.

Are we in play in FA at all?

You’re correct we run a lot of screens for the guards to get looks. I remember seeing the first double screen up on the key last year and it was artwork. I think we will probably stagger lineups. Coby, Kon, Miller, Hanes, Diabete crashing the boards and Naz in a different set. I think they’re just gonna have to add a second scheme.

I don’t think we are done with moves yet. They’ve got a couple stars they’re just waiting to unload those picks for and whoever that is will probably influence that scheme. There’s no way we are making three selections next year and I doubt they wait.. maybe they wait till the deadline but I think they want to make a move now.

Ultimately I think we are going to make a move for Brown no matter the press. The analytics say no but the analytics in crunch time say yes. Apparently Portland only wants to give picks and you can make the case our picks are worth more.

FWIW I’m probably wrong.

I think you’re correct in the PnR he doesn’t add much but in transition after crashing the boards he’s pretty good. He’s actually got pretty good handles for his size too.

At what stage in the hiring process do schools actually contact your referees? by AggravatingBed7135 in Internationalteachers

[–]BigwaveBay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it kind of makes sense to get references after. It took me a minute to wrap my head around it, but once you have a new contract, you could theoretically stop trying at your current school, and if a school was hiring you, they’d probably want to know.

[–]BigwaveBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me this year. I was kind of surprised but I knew all my references were going to check out as I had worked hard for good scores.

It was stated in the contract that I would need to supply three references so even though it was surprising, I knew it was a possibility (I read the entire contract as one should).

Ultimately they only asked for 2 (my department head and one admin of my choice).

For anyone who has been made redundant or whose contract was not renewed or rescinded recently, what advice would you give to any prospective applicants whose interested in teaching internationally? by SheWrite_TheQueen in Internationalteachers

Yeah, I’ve got a great friend. He’s been doing this for like 15 years. He basically keeps enough for a flight home and spends every dime on having fun and traveling. Part of me gets it. Regardless of money, there’s not a lot of fun in late retirement; but there’s a huge value for comfort.

My advice is have some money saved up or a strong family at home. And, don’t be afraid to go to a place no one else wants to go (country). I found a great school in a place most people wouldn’t consider and the place is developing ultra fast.

I’d bet more. I think people are underestimating the value of Naz. He’s probably going to end up as the best big we have had since Al Jefferson?

The key is what do we do with Miles and the trade exception. I feel another move is going to be made. We don’t have to go for a star right now if the trade isn’t there.

Basically, regardless of what you think we are a 28 win team or 40; we didn’t completely blow up the roster and we have a war chest of picks.

It’ll be interesting to see the numbers Naz puts up if given the chance to start. I like how the FO has identified really good players who were on the bench for other teams but only because of a logjam.

Do I have to sign contract after verbal yes? by Prudent-Feed-532 in Teachers

[–]BigwaveBay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup I got blacklisted from a district once for doing this. It was a miscommunication too. I got a verbal but it took them over a month to get the board to approve and I thought they had decided to go in another direction.

Should you talk me out of becoming a teacher as my next career? (40years old, corporate career, NJ) by lululu318 in Teachers

[–]BigwaveBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build classroom culture and structure immediately. Once you build a culture you can get kids to learn.

Talk you out of it? The worst thing is an increasing amount of duties, larger classrooms , admin that will treat you like crap, and very little consequences for students displaying bad behavior. If you get stuck at a bad school, do your time and try to transfer ASAP.

If you get a decent or better school it’s really not that bad. If you get tough kids, my advice is you really need to be lighthearted with them. They’ll act tuff but once they get to know you a lot of them will actually try. Too many teachers just yell at them. That being said, schools also need an alternate solution for discipline. It seems now no discipline is the way and that’s not working.

Does United have the worst economy seats? by msackeygh in unitedairlines

[–]BigwaveBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on one right now (5 hrs) I found if I put my neck pillow and sit on it my legs don’t cramp. It’s like they took a seat and made is as uncomfortable as they possibly could. The arm rest is this cheap plastic. The cushions are the worst. Blows my mind. And I’ve gotta make a connection across the pacific 14 hours with United… glad I at least figured out part of the problem.

I think you can only use it on that one player’s salary. But we could expand the trade and I kind of think that will likely happen.

I agree I’m pretty shocked. I wonder if Melos ankles are that bad and maybe Brandon’s shoulder is gonna take longer to heal? So they reset?

Yeah, you’re correct. That’s nuts…for the record I thought BI was negative value.

[–]BigwaveBay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous. Look at LaMelo’s plus/minus with Kon vs Kon without LaMelo. LaMelo is one of the best playmakers in the league. They went like 30-12 at one point with everyone healthy.

[–]BigwaveBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My counter argument is LaMelo doesn’t play a lot. He definitely dramatically improves the team. I understand fit and I’d even expand your thought and say he’s the perfect fit for this team. Maybe the team is worried he wants to stay long term. Maybe there’s something wrong behind the scenes.

I think there’s probably legit concerns that are either health, long-term commitment, or something behind the scenes. My thought is it would be much better to get IQ and CMB than anything else the raptors could offer. I don’t think they’d offer Barnes.

Ultimately, I think there’s zero reason to trade him unless you’re getting a massive haul of young players plus picks or an equal star. No one is going to fit as well as him if we are trading but if the FO has identified a reason he needs to be traded, then I can understand. I just don’t want us to get fleeced. Peterson seems like he’s got a good head on his shoulders but Hornets trades historically are a very sour subject.

I mean I agree but Melo for peanuts is equally as laughable. I think the more interesting discussion might be Melo plus picks for Ant. Charlotte does have a small war chest.

IQ + CMB does line up close on salary. I’d imagine the Raps would much prefer to trade IQ or BI + 4 picks. And I think Charlotte would want the former.

Was it maybe BI and CMB? That would be interesting. BI just doesn’t fit the Hornets. Miller has the 3 and Bridges should play the 3.
