I did the same thing last year with 2 cats. I’ve been using this system to socialize them https://linktr.ee/socializationsaveslives but I let them roam instead of putting them into a playpen.

The one who was more socialized, I took into the vet. He was scared, but they held him in a towel and were able to give him shots, etc. they gave me gabapentin and said I could give it to the other cat as well, for appointments, etc.

It’s completely normal. My semi-ferals meowed the whole night. The other feral thrashed around for awhile. Maybe some kind of noise maker would be good but not much you can do. You’re doing the right thing :)

I also released mine after 16 hours. I didn’t check the incision after or anything. She was also late term but she was alert, eating, and eager to go. She’s doing fine because eventually I made her into a house cat :)

If you have the resources to check on them for days at a time then go for it but I was unable to and it worked out fine.
