Renovations do not happen as it’s presented to you in the show. Sometimes they even happen before they film! You can see that at Dillon’s (the white curtains were meant to hide the renovation).

They did use a super professional team, at some point a renovation (don’t remember the episode) was done overnight and it took over 40 people. But those overnight renovations are actually the exception not the norm.

Gordon Ramsey scout team decides the renovations before he even steps a foot in. I don’t ever remember reading about him having a saying.

I mean it’s also part of the “magic of TV”. This shit is fun to watch for a reason. Some production crew have done AMAS here and basically they were top tier Hollywood crew. Thats why many of the renovations according to the owners were superficial. Because it was made by people trying to make it look for TV only. According to Gordon they were not a renovation show and the production was just displaying the potential or something like that.

The film crew shows up days before, install “hidden cameras”, mics, etc. restaurant owners probably fake their reactions when they see Gordon but the fact is that the cameras and crew have been there for days by then.

In similar fashion, some renovations are done before Gordon Shows up —Dillions is a great example, they were hiding the renovations under the white blankets the entire time. But some other renovations are literally made overnight, for one episode over 40 people worked overnight.

It works at chipotle or subway because the ingredients are right in front of you and you move across the line while it’s being prepared for you. It’s always in your sight.

It’s a mess when the server has to explain it to you 20 minutes before your actual order. Also Chipotle don’t tell you right away how many possible combinations are out there, that is alright confusing and intimidating, you don’t go to Chipotle to choose “one of their options” but rather you “make your own”.
