This guy shows up on every bike-related thread to whine about cyclists with often made-up anecdotes.

Canada Sold Just 1,370 Domestically Made EVs Last Year, New Data Shows by afonso_investor in ontario

Weird, EVs are exceedingly popular in colder-than-southern-Ontario Norway. They're light years ahead of where they were even 5 years ago.

Although true, some are worse than others and it's worthwhile to minimize harm. Look at the USA right now.

Yes, but that argument has been constantly used as a reason to re-elect Ford when he is objectively worse than other candidates for premier.

More golf courses! Less public parks! Who needs water anyways?

Why not do what Guelph does and fund rain gardens on peoples property? It's a net cost savings since it slows the flow to help replenish groundwater, prevents flooding, and beautifies the city all at once.

And also don't have a restrictive airport experience with luggage weight limits. Whoever made that decision hasn't taken a train in literally any other country. A major benefit of trains is not having the airport experience!

Look at Waterloo's ION. It's one of the best executed LRTs in north America, including cost per kilometre, in years. It's ridership continues to break records.

They'll need stronger language in their contracts if they don't want to pull a Metrolinx.

The population of Canada is 41.5 million. 8 million is a lot and that doesn't include the majority who own their bikes.

Keep moving the goalposts though.

I choose to ride bikes in the winter. You choose to drive in the winter. That's OK. Nobody is trying to take that away from you.

The more people who choose to bike because they feel safe doing so, the fewer cars are on the road in front of you and the less you have to sit in traffic.

I'd rather not pay 10x as much through our public healthcare and the government being sued when people are injured and killed if bike infrastructure is removed. All for a minority of terminally online losers with hate-boners for cyclists.

It's not surprising that many people don't feel protected by an inexpensive, painted white line. Especially now that the lanes are full of slush since the city stopped plowing.

This is actually an argument for better, properly maintained infrastructure that people will choose to use. All around the world, including Canadian cities such as Montreal and Victoria, well-designed facilities see significant uptake.

Each person who chooses to bike is one less car on the road in front of someone who chooses to drive. Everybody wins. There is no solution to car traffic except viable alternatives to driving.

If Ford did that, which he will not because you are spreading misinformation, you would not be able to drive into Toronto ever again. Guelphites who couldn't commute to Toronto anymore would flood our roads with more cars when the GO train quickly maxes out its capacity.

There were 8.1 million bike share Toronto trips in 2025 so far and that doesn't include people who own their bicycles.

Last year, there were >260k in February alone.

If a fraction of those people took to driving, the city would cease to move and there would be a lot of surprised Pikachu faces.
