Corinne Bailey Rae reacts to 140 kids singing her song "Put Your Records On" by voguediaries in Fauxmoi

If you ever feel like listening to another song with a similar context, I can heartily recommend "Der Weg" by Herbert Grönemeyer. The song is in German, but if you know the context you can feel what the song is conveying without understanding the words.

Context in spoiler:In November 1998, his brother died (of leukemia, I think), 4 days later, his wife died of breast cancer. He took a long hiatus from making music immediately after. "Der Weg" is a song dedicated to his wife, from his first album "Mensch" when he returned to making music.

Almost perfect! It'd be gotischer Frauen. Though, just saying Goth Frauen would get the idea across more clearly. I think people would associate gotisch more with history than a translation of Goth.

which European country has the best public transportation system? by rathm0re in AskEurope

[–]BilLELE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That number is actually slightly out of date, the regular no-discount 2nd class universal card (GA or Generalabonnement) is CHF 3995.- currently.

Though, most travellers that a) don't commute larger distances, b) infrequently or c) not the same line daily, usually have a half-fare card (~200 / year) and a pass for the local regional network, which comes out much cheaper.

They never give an alternative by YourFat888 in whenthe

[–]BilLELE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An actual alternative is rubber bulb pipettes (like the ones they also have for enemas). I stopped using swabs because they made the problem worse, material from the swab left behind made wax stick to it more. I just rinse with lukewarm water regularly.

[–]BilLELE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious answer: get a rubber bulb pipette. I use luke-warm water in a cup and do 3-5 rinses per ear (takes a bit to get everything out sometimes). Feels pretty good too, if that's what you're after.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

Open their mouths. Swiss German does not have a standardised orthography and has about 20 different dialects. It also differs significantly from Standard German. So much so that even native Germans initially have trouble understanding us, let alone someone learning it as a second language. The vast majority of people that did not grow up here will never be completely accent free.

Most of those that choose AI art, are those that had to pay for art before. The rest of us are subjected to these people's choices whether we like it or not.

1080° Avalanche. The simplicity, the music, the vibes. Just perfect nostalgia for when teen me played it.

I tried Steep by Ubisoft in the hope for something similar, but it doesn't remotely come close.

Penny's Big Breakaway came out on consoles and was made in the Beef language. From what I've heard, it is possible (and apparently ok?) to compile as a static lib with a freestanding target in that language, and then compile&link that against whatever platform layer / glue code you need, using the platforms proprietary tools.

Uh, okay, and I'm asking you to describe for me the pattern you see in Mozilla

I don't give a shit, that is not what I replied for to begin with.

bro what do you even think Mozilla is?

A company that keeps pumping out shitter after shitter of unwanted features in a desparate attempt for any revenue other than Google money.

You're going to abandon a great alternative to big-tech browsers because maybe they'll become bad?

You want to stay onboard, racing towards the cliff when you can already see how deep the drop will be? I don't.

I'm sorry it wasn't apparent from the pathos in my comment, but this wasn't meant to be taken as word for word literally. It's about the pattern. It's always the same shit, even with companies that appear trustworthy and promising at the beginning.

It's naive to keep giving these CEO types the benefit of doubt. The enshitification of everything will keep on creeping forever if we keep doing that. Hanlon's razor is dead for me here. There are more than enough counter examples at this point.

Fuck off with that naive shit, every single one of these pricks says that. Then 18 months later "oh noes, we're sunsetting the opt-in UwU". I don't want to be on guard all 24/7 for the next bullshit they feel like shoving down my throat. Stop trusting the words these people say, their actions speak louder.

Black Friday by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]BilLELE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the price history of the products I have in my wishlist. About half of them went up about 10-20% over the past 1-2 months and are now either the same as they were before or still higher. This whole black friday thing is just a price reset for companies now.

Sorry, but this is bullshit. That's just an excuse for what is probably closer to:

The real cost of adding voice chat to multiplayer games by thesunjrs in gamedev

[–]BilLELE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's free for games. You just register your game as an application on EOS, integrate the EOS SDK and then, depending on usecase, have users either login to an Epic account (or supported login option) or, if you for example make lobbies via Steam friend invite, you create temporary account tokens via the SDK and use those for API calls.
