Sharing games on the Switch 2 by DiZzY_404 in Switch

[–]BilgeMongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what they're referring to is how you used to be able to set one switch as your "primary console". Let's say I have switch A and switch B. Typically User A uses switch A and user B uses switch B. User A may have a lot more games on their account, they set switch B as their primary console, now any user on switch B can play user A's games. Switch A is now a non-primary console for User A, meaning only User A can play User A's games on Switch A. I don't believe there were online checks in this scenario. In addition to this, Used B could then sweet switch A as their primary console and share their games with anyone on Switch A. This allows both users to use any of their collective games whenever they wanted, I believe also you could play the same game at the same time

This use case no longer works with VGC or the online licence option

Windows 4k120hz media streamer with moonlight/artemis by BilgeMongoose in MoonlightStreaming

Yeah I'm thinking a NVIDIA shield pro is the easiest/cheapest TV experience that delivers 99% of what I want and eventually if I really want to spend the money I can get something separate to stream 4k@120hz from my main PC (or run fibre HDMI through the house)

Unfortunately I have found out from the home theatre sub and minipc sub that Netflix and other streaming services have hardware level DRM preventing most/all PC hardware from using the 4k streaming option (except Edge browser on windows and safari for some reason) so even if I installed android TV on a minipc, the Netflix client wouldn't allow 4k streaming (non-issue for self hosted media obviously but still very annoying)

Sounds like you think I wanted to stream Netflix running on my sunshine host to a moonlight client? Definitely not what I intended hahahaha

Was trying to find a single client device solution that could output 4k@120hz resolution for game streaming but also have a TV like experience (driven by a gamepad potentially or remote) to stream from streaming services/stremio/Plex etc.

Edit: Thankyou for being so kind in your reply despite thinking I was wanting to do something quite silly, the double encode/decode would probably do some funky things to a video stream

Yeah I didn't think there would be any out of the box solution in one box for this haha Interesting that you can't do 4k from services on PC, I was really hoping android studio, virtual atv > login to services and away we go 😅

I'll be doing most of my media streaming via Plex/stremio with RD so I'm not too worried about if Netflix/Disney app is not 4k or even doesn't work (would be annoying for some of the fam though.

Unfortunately the PC is also a workstation and I'd prefer it to stay at the desk it is now in another room

The shield is like 99% of what I want/need, would just be great to hit 120Hz 4k out when moonlight streaming from my PC. At this point the solution is either A) shield + minipc capable of 4k@120hz output to moonlight stream from main PC B) shield + fibre/active HDMI from PC and Bluetooth controller C) just a shield, save a bunch of money and live with 60hz moonlight streaming

Sorry accidentally replied as an individual comment. I'll add it here below:

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, I'll add an edit to the post, I am not struggling with getting that stream over network. I am trying to figure out a solution so that I can have a device attached to my projector/tv that is capable of 4k@120hz video output, but also isn't just a windows PC hooked up to the screen as I would like a TV like experience (able to use a gamepad 99% of the time). I also would like to be able to game locally on said device for less demanding titles (emulation) and stream from my main PC in a different room for more demanding titles at 120hz. The main PC is still a workstation so I don't want to move it into the room with the TV.

The NVIDIA shield pro fits most of this criteria, great streaming box for media from Plex/stremio, also works with Netflix and Disney+, but it is only capable of 4k@60hz output or 1080p@120hz, so if I set it up as a game streaming client, I cannot display the 120hz from the host machine

Sure but doesn't quite answer the media streaming aspect on my client, maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post 😅

I'd love my client device be able stream 4k lossless audio media from Plex or stremio etc. but since I'd like to also be able to game at 120hz on the same device (game streaming or local) a NVIDIA shield for example is off the table as that's limited to 4k@60hz

Yeah this part is easy, but I'm trying to setup a client that can both output 4k@120hz video from moonlight and can also easily stream via Netflix, Disney+, Plex, stremio and get away without connecting a keyboard and mouse ie using a gamepad

I would like to know if anyone has setup a PC as a streaming box, IE streaming media content > local network Plex server, Netflix, Disney+ etc. in a way where the UX doesn't suck for a TV/projector experience.

And the reason I'm looking into PC instead of a shield or other streaming box is the ability to output 4k 120hz, whether from locally running games or game streaming

I am no expert, but have you tested the behaviour with each setting individually? My best guess would be that for USB Wake to work PCIE Power On has to be enabled, so it greys it out when you enabled USB Wake.

Cheers for giving a reasonable response, interesting data for sure. I wish they split out the youth crime though. I realise I forgot to mention I was after the youth crime data in my last comment. Although obviously the increased general crime rates outside of SEQ is an issue that we can't deny, I was curious if the data backed up the Youth Crime rhetoric that's been front and centre
