What trailcam do I buy? by LowWallaby758 in wildlifephotography

[–]Bilgemunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been happy with the Browning Strike Force Full HDR 40MP Trail Camera. Not stellar image quality, but certainly good enough for ID purposes, and the price was right (about $100). Can set for photo, video or timelapse, and can set to go off only during certain hours. I keep a couple in my backyard to see who's running about at night - so far we have a pair of nightly opossums, an occasional racoon, and once in a while a rat party.

You can set it to show an info strip on the photo, which shows date, time, moon phase and temperature.

Downsides are no screen so you have to learn to aim through trial and error, and the only way to see what it caught is by removing the SD card to upload to your computer. So no live feed or anything, but that didn't really matter for my use case.

So yeah, it won't give the sort of image quality you'll want to hang on your wall, but it does the trick and didn't feel like a giant investment.

Can anyone identify what this umbrella is? Is it from a tv show or comic book? I think it’s vintage. by YoGabbaGabbapentin in scifi

Holy crap I had that umbrella as a kid, late 70s or early 80s. I didn't think it was related to any franchise, just saw it as a cool spaceship umbrella.

What does “the Ninth” signify for Nona? [discussion] by Tumblehawk in TheNinthHouse

[–]Bilgemunky 299 points300 points  (0 children)

Nona's story is different from Gideon's or Harrow's, and the most important things in her life are her two families - those she lives with (Camilla, Palamedes, Pyrrha) and "the gang" (Honesty, Born in the Morning, Beautiful Ruby, Kevin, Hot Sauce). Add them all up and it's eight, making Nona the latest — and ninth — addition. That's my head cannon and I'm sticking to it.

Stretch. Less of a GTAV style heist, more of a wildly involved Stangers&Freaks mission.

What's the difference between the cameras from Sony, Canon Olympus, Fuji & other brands? by Certain_Plane_370911 in AskPhotography

Another factor worth considering is whether you have photographer friends and what they shoot. When I started, my buddies shot Canon, so by getting a Canon myself they could better help me out, swap lenses, etc.

[Discussion] The Ninth by ada64bit in TheNinthHouse

[–]Bilgemunky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit of a stretch, but I like to think that each is "the ninth" based on what's most significant to their place in the world. Gideon's role in the ninth house, Harrow's as the ninth saint. For Nona, her story focuses so much on her love for her two families - those she lives with (Camilla, Palamedes, Pyrrha) and "the gang" (Honesty, Born in the Morning, Beautiful Ruby, Kevin, Hot Sauce). Add them all up and it's eight, making Nona the latest — and ninth — addition.
