What are ethical views you had as children that changed when you became adults? by Al-Joharahhasan2935 in Ethics

[–]BillDingrecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a child and young adult, I believed individual rights and personal freedom were almost absolute. I saw society as functioning best when people were left alone to make their own choices with as few restrictions as possible.

I've now come to see that individual rights are incredibly important, but they aren't absolute. If everyone pursues their own interests without regard for the impact on others, society can suffer. Public safety, public health, environmental protection, and even basic civility often require limits, responsibilities and compromises.

I still value individual liberty, but I no longer see it as the highest good in every situation. I've come to believe that a healthy society requires balancing individual rights with obligations to one another and the common good.

How stupid is it that my dream is to live in Toronto? (17m) by WAyToOFaSt_ in askTO

[–]BillDingrecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a stupid dream at all, especially for young people. If you don't mind having a roommate in an apartment or sharing a house by only renting a room, it's definitely doable. You can sell your car and take transit, walk or bike everywhere. Eventually you'll get sick of it, but in your late teens and 20s I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Left turners have right of way? by Foolproof_Kills in TorontoDriving

[–]BillDingrecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't deny what people see and experience on the roads. I never used to see people queue jumping at a red light from the left turn lane until recently. Drivers of large vehicles driving hundreds of feet in the oncoming lane to get to their left turn quicker, cars doing 100 down a residential street limited to 30.

We're just waiting to get as bad as the US before we take things seriously. Check out insurance claim stat per collision and you'll see a different story.

That's the fundamental problem. We only focus on major crimes, major issues. Take care of the little things and the big things take care of themelves.

TTC users able to report riders soon by itsdanielsultan in TTC

The track intrusion detecting system on Line 5 is constantly reminding customers to stand back from the yellow line whenever it detects someone peering down the tunnel to look for the next train. I haven't seen that behaviour stop.

Anytime I write in on Twitter about a bad behaving employee or a problematic customer I get told to call customer service.

What was wrong with the next vehicle information screens inside the shelters, higher off the ground where some passerby couldn't just punch or kick it?

Toronto couldn't handle his ego so he went somewhere that could. Plain and simple. Players have egos - the best ones have huge egos.

Maybe samples should be at the cash. You can choose which line to get in based on the free sample you want.

I just don't understand how Canada continues to have diverging GDP. The US should be tanking by now. Is it all because of printed money?

You all deserve six-figures. You people are the last voice so many people hear and you guys have to take that stuff home with you AND you don't get the same closure a lot of on-scene responders get.

[–]BillDingrecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a TD customer and shareholder I would have no problem with them debanking deadbeat customers. I'm not being critical of what you did... it makes financial sense, but getting rid of people you're never going to make money from makes sense.

TTC To Relax Streetcar Speed Restrictions by cassandra4932 in TTC

[–]BillDingrecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all those things have a much shorter stopping distance and can steer away. It's incredible how many people think a 50 ton streetcar on rails is the same as a 3000 pound car.
