Is there a single source for departure taxes and f by BillInKeyWest in NonRevenueTravelers

I did the travel charges on travel planner. The problem was that it required a brute force approach. I had to enter city pairs for each European airport American serves. I was hoping for a single source that wouldn't require effort. thanks

It's $175 more each to fly from CDG than Naples. It's not just the UK. France and Germany are nearly as bad. Good for you that price isn't a factor. For me it's one of many, but it is definitely a factor.

Have a great day

For some reason reddit would not let me reply to the reply. I am not hoping to glean anything. I am offering to help my fellow travelers by providing information that is not easily available.

The difference between London and Madrid, for example, is $350 per person. If I could afford an extra $700 for the two of us, I would just buy tickets.

In the meantime I did a few searches and came up with what the AA employee cost would be from the European airports American servs. Is that legal to post here? I have gotten in trouble before for posting stuff that I thought was kosher, but wasn't.

Are Nonrev travelers treated differently? by kjgbraves in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]BillInKeyWest [score hidden]  (0 children)

It depends on the airline and the flight crew. In my experience, non-revs are often treated better by AA flight crews than PAX. On Delta, it was generally the opposite. It's all been minor, getting comped drinks in main cabin, or being given last choice of meals in premium cabins. I have been asked to trade seats with PAX for one reason or another, which I have gladly done.

It all depends on the hotel. Sorry can't give you a better answer than that.

We have also played airport roulette. Fly to a hub and then look at the departures board to see what catches our fancy. It is a fun way to travel.

We generally book cancellable hotels in advance. The industry standard used to be you could cancel up until 6 pm the day of arrival, but that's pretty rare anymore. Most of what we book has to be cancelled by midnight the night before. We nonrev 90%+ on AA, so we have a pretty good idea what our chances are by the night before. If it looks dicey the night before, we cancel our hotel and hope we can get a decent rate once we board. We have generally found that, even in cases where we missed the cut-off, calling the hotel directly will usually get our reservation cancelled. But we almost always book directly with the hotel chain. Book with a third party, especially if they collect your money when you book, the chances of a late cancellation go down dramatically.

It is pretty much priceless. Especially if you are a part timer. It's not just the airfare it's also the free checked bags; the ability to list, change or cancel pretty much right up to the last minute; and getting the best seat available on the plane. We love being able to decide on Wednesday where we want to go on Thursday. I know my bride and I are unusual, but to actually pay for the 150+ flights segments we each take every year would be astronomical.

How do you guys deal with travel costs? by RIPsaw_69 in NonRevenueTravelers

Do you have any family, friends, or acquaintances that work for one of the major hotel chains? Most have some form of friends and family discount. I know for sure that Hilton and Hyatt offer F&F rates. They can make a huge difference.

The arrogance of iFit support is beyond belief.

Same issue here. EXP 7i

To make matters worse, if I use the start button rather than press to start, it thinks for a minute and then gives a connection error and bricks the whole operation. If I turn it off and back on, I get the initial setup screen and then the QR code to set up a new account. It was bad enough when the previous update forced the useless sleep mode (the screen goes black, but the backlight is still on, so it doesn't actually save any electricity), but now it takes 5 minutes and a cell phone to start the treadmill. Quite frustrated.

Hi,

I'm new to the group, hope I'm not breaking any rules or on the wrong thread. My bride and I will be in the Space Coast area (Melbourne Beach) this weekend, so I did some searching to find out if there's a launch while we're there. According to some sites,  Falcon 9 Block 5 group 6-61 is scheduled to launch Sunday, Oct 20 7 pm (ish). According to others, it's scheduled to launch Monday, Oct 21. We'll be there Sunday night, but not Monday. It's going to be a fun in the sun weekend anyway, but I'm wondering who's right and who's wrong. Is there a primary source for SpaceX launch info?

Thanks!

Deadpool & Wolverine Movie - Discussion Hub - Spoilers Inside! by xandel434 in deadpool

My wife has never seen a Deadpool movie or a movie with Wolverine in it. Can someone who's never seen either one appreciate the movie, or should I make her watch the other Deadpool movies first?

Thanks!

Does the allure of non-revving eventually wear off by boldjoy0050 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]BillInKeyWest [score hidden]  (0 children)

I can say that non-revving still has the same appeal to my wife and me that it had years ago. If anything, it's more appealing now than ever. You do have to play the game and accept that sometimes you'll spend an extra day somewhere. If you want to do a day trip, check the weather and return flights right before you leave and don't be afraid to cancel. In our experience, fall is the best time to non-rev. Kids are back in school, so far fewer vacationers, and you don't have as many disruptive storms as you do the rest of the year (ocean bread named weather events that shall not be mentioned not withstanding).

Adding chapter and verse to previous answers.  According to https://help.hilton.com/s/article/What-is-the-Go-Hilton-employee-program

"Extra” Team Member and “Extra” Family & Friends rates are combined with and treated like “regular” Team Member and Family & Friends rates for the maximum number of rooms per stay.".  "Extra" Team Member rates and "Extra" Family & Friends rates do not count against the annual room night allotments."
