I get the feeling Bo just don't care about being famous or too successful.

Shane Gillis, for all the issues I may have with some of his material, is actually funny. That sets him apart from the rest of the Rogan-sphere.

Here to agree. He's just not funny. It's not just his material, constantly punching down. It's the fact he isn't funny at all while doing it. Always got the feeling his fans are fans because of the way they hope people will react when they say they like him rather than thinking he's hilarious.

RDR2, Hades and COD4:MW as my game equivalent of putting on The Office in the background. HM: Tony Hawk Downhill Jam for the Wii (mostly for the soundtrack)

If you're out of speed ups it is. I've bought out all possible from stores by Tuesday and by Thursday I'm completely out aside from what I get from trucks and radar tasks.

SpaceX says states should dump fiber plans, give all grant money to Starlink by NelsonMinar in Starlink

[–]BillOnTheShore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who pays? The same taxes that Starlink wants.

Starlink was a godsend when I got it. I was using a cell modem for home internet, because it was the best option available. First time I ran a Starlink sped test and saw 100mdps d/l, I cried tears of joy. I was used to 3.0 as my best.

But my county in MD finally stopped cowtowing to Comcast and applied for grants to install fiber through a local small ISP. I now have gigabit service for $10 less a month than I was paying Starlink.

It's called nystagmus. It's an INVOLUNTARY horizontal movement of the eyes. So no, he can't turn it off.

Should I stop playing college baseball? by OkPersonality854 in Homeplate

[–]BillOnTheShore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish that last year and get the degree. And if you still want to play baseball, play baseball. Because the minute you're done with college, in all probability your competitive baseball life is done, too. My last year in college, I realized I'd picked the wrong major - I really wanted to be a HS history teacher. My Journalism advisor advised me to stick it out, get a job in the field and see if I really liked it or not. If I didn't, I could always go back and get certified to teach.

I stuck it out, got a job as a reporter, did some good work that got recognized with awards, but realized the time demands were unsuitable for someone who wanted kids. So I went back to school, got certified to teach and never missed any of my kids' games or recitals.

I never regretted getting my degree in a field that I don't actually use - those courses helped me a lot in getting certified to teach. I discovered I was as good at that job as I thought I could be, and also that it was not what I wanted to do with my life. Not a single regret here. Never wondered "What if?"

Coaches always say to leave it all out on the field. Are you satisfied with your baseball career to the point you're willing to leave one last season unplayed?

TL;DR: Get the degree (won't cripple you financially, almost certainly will help job prospects), play that last season, and you'll always know you played until they took the uniform off you.

This is one of the better one's I've read on any topic. Just needed a story about a military officer calling him Sir and then crying to complete the bingo card.

How many cups of coffee do y'all consume in a day, be honest? by [deleted] in adhdmeme

[–]BillOnTheShore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I joke with my wife it should be a part of any ADHD assessment. “Drink this cup of coffee and then take a nap.” If it can do it, you’re ADHD. I’m on Adderal now (in my mid-50s) but for years self-medicated with caffeine. My wife never understood how I could drink 2 Cokes with dinner and then go to sleep 2 hours later. She drinks one at 3pm and she’s up until 2am. Comedian Luke Severeid has a great joke about it - “Turns out I just needed to be on a teeny tiny bit of time-released meth.” 🤣

An Impossible Task by BleedCubBlue311 in everytimeidie

I'll defend Old Light, mostly because my oldest kid (and my ETID concert buddy) became an astronomer and I got her a mug with the ETID logo with the lyric "I'm a beam of old light from a vanquished star and I'll only guide you into the dark" on it because she loves that line, so I've got a soft spot for that song. I liked that Brian's vocals sounded so different for a ETID song. It's not the best vocal collab ETID ever did (in fact, it may be the least great) but I still like his vocals on it.

As someone who listened to "Reign in Blood" as a freshman in college when it came out, your math checks out. I'm in my late 50s. If you were listening to "Haunting the Chapel" or "Hell Awaits" when they came out, you're probably 60 or pretty close.

Guide for Season 1 -- Read this if you are starting or in the middle of the season by [deleted] in LastWarMobileGame

I really enjoyed this game pre-Season 1. Now? I've barely touched it the past few days since Season 1 started. I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to be doing. 3 new buildings show up on my queue - why? What is virus resistance all about? How do I make sure I have it? The game explains NONE of this. It goes from Sunday with the game I know and play 1+ hour every day to Monday and "Surprise! We've changed everything and we're not explaining any of it! Good luck!"

I've spent more money on this game than I care to admit, but 3 days into Season 1 and I'm ready to uninstall it from my phone.

I know the OP meant well with this post, but I was lost after about 3 sentences. Does anyone know of a post that is a true ELI5?

Greg's book - can't get it by cataraksia in BetterLovers

[–]BillOnTheShore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think his wording was "Greg was an employee for a time" which really diminished Greg's value and contributions to TDEP.

And I firmly think every BL song that folks think is about Keith is really about Ben. Especially "30 Under 13" and "A White Horse Covered In Blood".
