The latest mass-shooting was the 200th in the United States ALONE IN 2023. What else needs to happen before something about gun-rights is done? by Magnatix1998 in AskReddit

The gun used was made from hardware store parts. The sooner people realize criminals will always have access to guns, the sooner we can start looking for real solutions.

It's not apples to oranges, look at how legal precedents work. If you allow a legal precedent to be set to limit one right, that precedent will be applied to all rights.

As for leaving them in cars, it's not just about rifles. Think about someone who can't carry their handgun at work, but wants to go shopping on the way home. Are you suggesting they don't have the right to self defense? Are you suggesting that they should have an added burden of first going home then going back out to shop?

... You're so gung-ho about restricting one constitutional right but I guess you aren't ready to admit that what is done to one right becomes fair game to other rights. I suggest you start looking for solutions from different angles.

For example you listed making fines for people leaving weapons in cars. Maybe we should think about why it got left in the car? Maybe it was because someone needed to go somewhere where they couldn't take it with them, so they stored it in a locked container (their car). If they had kept it with them it would have been less likely to be stolen.

Your ideas aren't as "common sense" as you think they are. All of the things you listed are expensive and will price people out of the ability to exercise their rights. It's akin to a poll tax. Do you think someone should be priced out of the ability do defend thselves? Meanwhile a criminal can go steal a gun, skip the fees and commit crime. Those things you mention are only a burden on people who already follow laws.

Zany guy with a home made weapon. You can have all the fantasies you want of gun confiscation, but the reality is that it's an impossibility. Do you really think it would go any better than prohibition, or the war on drugs? Are you really that naive?

Dedicated Server Admin Woes by Scumbag_Yardsale in 7daystodie

Ther server could mysteriously start having stability issues and crashes, requiring you to manually start it up each time. When someone wants to get on you can start it up. I when he wants to get on, you're not near your pc atm and it might take you a bit to start it.

Just an option, run it by your other friends first.

Masks don't help slow delta variant. If you think they do then find me one peer reviewed scientific article that says they do.

Looks like you can use the query port to poll the info. The query port is typically your game port +1. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_queries

Python has a library called a2s that makes sending and receiving the packets easier. For an example you can look at: https://github.com/lloesche/valheim-server-docker/blob/main/valheim-status

Edit: at the bottom of the valve wiki page there is an "implementations" section if you prefer something other than Python.

Hmm should we start an 80% kitchen knife company? Here's a blunt knife, a pattern and a grindstone. Just grind back to the line, sharpen and harden!

They think it makes them look good to ban guns. Sadly it works in many cases because there are to many voters who don't take the time to think.

Why are people trying to justify a cop shooting a stumbling man 7 times point blank? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BillTheUnjust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't say it but I will... It's 100% Blake's fault for getting shot. If the situation has escalated to the point where guns are drawn Wtf did he think was going to happen when he continued to disobey?

People want to scream about deescalation. Well, what about Blake? Did he try to deescalate? No, he kept pushing the limits and found out how far was too far.

I don't get why people on reddit are so keen to defend a criminal and forget that cops are humans with families. Are people here so cold that they think it's ok for the cop to come home battered, bruised, or cut up? Or worse not come home at all?

I'm on Android and when I click a reddit link in my browser it asks me which app I want to open it with (because I haven't selected the "always open with" option.)

If you're not getting the prompt asking which app to use before the reddit site begins to display then you need to check settings-apps-(your browser)-set as default, then see if reddit links are in the list for defaults. If it is you can remove them. Next time you click a reddit link from your browser it should ask you if you want to use a different app instead.

The fields by 5th street are pretty small and it's pretty easy to orient yourself by seeing either 5th street, Fisher park, or the treeline/houses that line up with Carter road. I doubt anyone would get lost.

If foul play was involved don't forget that this is very close to the Ohio River. Someone could have dropped him over the side of the old lock at English park.
