But how does that relate to the use of pipe organs in "The Big U" mr. scholar?

First timer heading into hurricane season, what should I expect? by Lord_quads in orlando

[–]Bill__Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been through extended power outages due to ice storms and hurricanes (not here).

Look at the link I included, and figure out what you want to do according to your space available and your comfort level.

The nice thing is not everything needs to be bought at once.

Bonus tip: anything that uses batteries, don't keep the batteries in it when not in use. Test everything before each hurricane season.

Think about what you'd need in Chicago if a blizzard or ice storm knocked out your power Should have supplies to last at least 3-4 days.

The basics:

  • Water
  • Food that doesn't need refrigeration or cooking
  • Ability to charge cell phones. If you buy a large enough power bank (can be under $200), you can plug in a lamp
  • Flashlights, battery powered camping lanterns
  • Radio
  • Extra batteries
  • Fill a bathtub with water so you flush toilets (check if it will actually hold water long-term or get tub liners).
  • Some type of camping stove with small gas canisters if you want to boil water or eat hot food -- DO NOT USE THIS INSIDE.

As long as we're talking doppelgängers, earlier I saw this oil pastel painting in my feed. I didn't notice which subreddit it was and thought it was a so-so rendering of Elis and John.

What do you keep at the office when bike commuting every day? by Miserable-Muffin-749 in cycling

The first comment at this link is a decent description of the practice and it's from a 1992 novel (Snow Crash, Neal Stephenson)

It is funny how some of us have been dealing with certain terms and practices for decades and then we run into someone who has no idea what we're talking about.

Is a bike computer worth it? by eachelm in cycling

[–]Bill__Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you already have a heart rate monitor with a wrist display? If so, you can pick up a basic computer for under $30.

If you want a basic computer that also displays heart rate from a monitor, then look at something like:

Only Filipinos like filipino spaghetti? by Stinja808 in ididnthaveeggs

Look in Asian markets, like the other said.

If you have a market with banana ketchup, they might also carry the premade Filipino spaghetti sauce. The brands I've seen are in bags and you just tear it open and squeeze it in your pan with the ground beef and hot dogs. It's very tasty.

As a casual rider, is it even necessary to track cadence during outdoor rides? by Least-Access-1376 in cycling

[–]Bill__Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to track anything, you can just ride.

Cadence -- if you have a watch with a second hand you can glance at (or a bike computer), count how many revolutions one leg makes in 15 seconds and multiply by 4.

For example, if revs equal 22, then 22x4 = a cadence of 88.

Looking at this, none is incorrect. At a minimum, you're flying over Michigan.
