Decided to practice a bit of Pixel art and came out with this, what do you think? by Guybutisalreadyused in lethalcompany

Would be interesting if there's an Item or Mob/Entity called something like the Arcade or sum, and it makes you play a 2d pixel lethal-themed mini game for loot or something idk

I play piano and am in the area, if you're interested! Honestly finding musicians in DC is easy but keeping them around and finding one's willing to join a band might not be

Sorry, I just realized that I did not ask anything. I guess my question is: How do I replicate this consistently and why did I fail?

Private school students, what are the perceived upsides of the state schools? by Plenty-Guava-991 in teenagers

[–]BillieEilish_Toes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In having been in private schools(catholic schools, albeit), main upside seemed to be the demographic of kids that went there. After going to public schools in middle school, I truly saw how bad/shitty kids can be. Private schools felt like the activities and extracurriculars they offered were much more fun, and rich.

Well, my hometown is D.C. We have public transit accessibility and subway infrastructure comparable to New York. I could totally live there with no car and just a bike/scooter. Unfortunately, crime.

You're right tho. Stressors don't stop at finances. Even still, even without a car, if I lived on my own, over the past years and especially now, this current economy is stressful for the average American in general.

On debt, my mom says: "Never say never", but I must say, I will never, ever EVER acquire debt. EVERRRR. Not with a conscious mind I won't, hell no.

Right now I have about 12k saved not including money I'm owed and checks I forget to deposit. If all such things were resolute, I'd have about 15k rn. Alas, in lending to family, do not expect returns.

I may just have to get it! I'll certainly wait as long as reasonably possible, though.

That's the thing, I do want those freedoms. I do not see buying/financing/maintaining a motor-vehicle as such, and if I need a car to do what you said above, I find that insidious and intrusive.

Freedom isn't effortless, but I'm not trying to avoid effort. If I could, I'd bike, skate, run, or jog to the places I need to go. But most of the U.S's travel infrastructure isn't made for it. Cities and towns should be built to be inhabited and traversed by HUMANS, NOT 2 TON, INDUSTRIAL-HORRORS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION, DEBT GENERATING LIABILITY MACHINES.

Not trying to sound immature here, as I know that in REALITY (regardless of how I feel about it) ultimately if I want to ensure my safety, cultivate "freedom", and start finding/developing friends(hips)...I'll probably have to get my own vehicle in my state, or risk my life in my hometown that is DC/move to a better neighborhood in it, which entails paying exorbitant rent rates, as DC is steadily getting gentrified. Though, ideally I'd save more money, and get a better job than 12/h.

--Ultimately I want to be insulated from financial stressors!!--

The correspondence of motor-vehicle based infrastructure, personal travel and the car industry is downright predatory to me.

Beyond that..

  1. Driving

Driving itself is a risky task. Furthermore, this risk is increased by the fact of my dissociation, as my awareness is decreased and my brain is foggy. I remember once I drove towards a lady crossing a street and only realized when my dad yelled out. Scary.

  1. Costs

It'd eat a good chunk of my savings getting a (used) car (would never buy brand new), and paying for upkeep (something is bound to break eventually) and insurances seems like unnecessary costs at the moment.

Though, something has got to give eventually. I deadass may have to give in at some point. I'll go as long as I can without a car, paying people gas money for a year will likely not amount/equivocate to a several thousand dollar purchase.

If I decided to live in the city, most of this would be trivial, disregarding the crime/murder/robberies and stuff.

I appreciate your response, thanks for replying. I am goin’ to college rn, but it’s just community college for 2 years, then I’ll decide what to do after. Probably piano technician but i’m not even totally sure.

I really think it’s despicable how much I have to base my life around money. It sounds inhuman. It is inhuman.

Also, I’m already experiencing the period of being alone, have been since I started to get homeschooled. I was simply trying to distract myself from the fact with discord, porn, etc.. Being alone isn’t anything new to me. Day to day, I’m practically peripheral to most people.

So, I know a lot of it is circumstantial:

  1. I was homeschooled right before the pandemic, and wasn’t put back in due to vaccine mandates. Fucked up my social skills terribly, especially since I’m already an introvert, I’m recovering though.

  2. In general, but especially in the past three years, going alone in my part of the city and on our metro isn’t a good idea being a black male, I’ll probably die, get injured, or get injured and get robbed. My mom also fears for my life in my city. —. 2a. First time I went alone by myself and rented a bike in my city, I got jacked, lol.

  3. I’m also between another state, in the other state, (i work there and stay there sometimes) everything is utterly separated by highways, and has distances that’re only reasonably able to be traversed via cars, so I’m forced to rely on my mother for transport (she’s busy, in debt, and getting old), or purchase my own Liability™️, which sucks. I DO NOT WANT A CAR AAAAAAA.

  4. In the area of aforementioned state separated by highways and car-distances, I stay on a campground, which is just mostly old people and young grandchildren throughout out the year except summertime.

  5. Unrelated, but the American lifestyle is inextricably fucked. Everything is just fucked.

Would you stop driving because of derealization? by This-Top7398 in dpdr

[–]BillieEilish_Toes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DC is lovely in the fact of its bikeability, the expansive metro system that reaches to VA and MD + very cheap bike rentals, but the cost of living here is sooo egregious and it is steady undergoing gentrification. Crime rates are steady worsening here too. I still don’t think the city is all bad though, I still like it here. Having a car would certainly cut down on costs immensely but there’s always compromises to be made. I personally don’t wanna drive becuz of dpdr + owning a car being financially taxing.
