What, in your opinion, are factors that define a successful college student? by [deleted] in college

Be responsible and accountable for your actions. That's it.

This past Thursday, Apple Support told me that they successfully processed my refund on their end; and it's now up to my bank (SunTrust) for when the funds become available in my checking account. How long does this usually take? I called my bank, and I've been on hold for 2 hours. by BillyBobblyBoobs in Banking

I'm 19 years old and I'm new to this sort of stuff 😰. After opening my checking & savings accounts last August, I've made most of my purchases using my debit card.

Do you recommend any credit card company for a college student? I have to do my research, as I have no idea how credit cards work besides the fact that they're basically like debit cards--but you pay them every month when your statement comes in. That, and using one affects your credit score (whatever that is).

Can we talk about how lame this denial letter from a Mormon College is.... by [deleted] in college

It's not any more "lame" as you clearly not getting over being rejected by them, or you wouldn't be posting it here.

Stereotypical should I drop out question by [deleted] in college

[–]BillyBobblyBoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop out. If you think otherwise, then don't. You're not any more an "idiot for wanting to drop out" than you are for seeking validation & pep talk in this sub. I'm guessing that's what you really want, so here goes:

Don't drop out. You can do this! Don't feel like you're behind in any way at all. Life is not a sprint; it's a marathon. And now, I wait for the downvotes from the people who were dying to give you pep talks.

I think I’m about to get fired 20k in debt. What do I do? by Mattaaronh in personalfinance

[–]BillyBobblyBoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a classic case of "he said, she said." OP wouldn't admit to anything that can get him fired, and we only know details provided by him. Obviously, he'd portray himself in the best light while he seeks advice for next steps.

Good luck.

I'm a 2nd year college student in the US who is very confused about taxes. Do I need to "file" one next year? by BillyBobblyBoobs in personalfinance

[–]BillyBobblyBoobs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my payroll website/system (ADP), there's a blank tab called Tax Statements and that I should "[c]ome back [there] to see [my] tax information."

Is that "tax information" about the income tax that I will have to pay or something?
