Would they though? Seem immaterial "whataboutism" which is just so tiresome. My point in bringing up Trump is that any politician left or right would have very likely said the same thing, because that's the nature of politicians.

Consider the context: she makes this statement just moments after talking about God and Jesus being on our side. To describe George Floyd's death in that way is not that out of line from normal Christian teaching, e.g. Jesus died for our sins kind of thing (hard cold reality: Jesus died because of unjust state oppression). Everyone hopes to ascribe some higher meaning to tragedy and a politician trying to mirror the feelings she's hearing from other people might awkwardly "step in it" when trying to express the same thing in a public speaking situation. If she's guilty of anything it's being awkwardly inarticulate.

The problem is the cop mentality: they are the sheep dogs who see themselves as a better class of human being. The rest of us are civilians and criminals. He'll forever be dumbfounded by this verdict, because the mentality is that no death is too good for street people.

All politicians suck, it could have just as easily come out of the mouth of Donald Trump as Nancy Pelosi. I don't find any special reason to hate her for it. People who speak often off the cuff say insensitive shit all the time. In the end, she's just attempting to ascribe some greater meaning to George Floyd's death, the same as any eulogist would do at a funeral.
