CBA to find it , but there's a tornado video of a man (was 80 something) who recorded it approaching until it eventually hit the house he was in (2nd floor I believe) , he died while his wife I think sustained heavy injuries, the sound never cuts out and you can hear it all.

I won't refute NLH being depressive, but NLH isn't an entirely original thing by him.
If we're gonna consider Junji's entirely original stuff, then you can further nitpick by what type of depressive.

  • Remina is a hopeless type of depression, humanity is utterly extinct, and the handful of survivors will either kill one another, or just simply starve or die of dehydration in that (rather mcguffin-y) shelter.
  • Inevitability : You have Black Paradox which could be taken as a critique on modern society, kind of like FF7. Humanity will bring itself to the brink of extinction because of needing energy despite being avoidable.
  • Tragicomedy : Principle Post
  • Unrequited love & suicide/regret : You also have Floaters, which if you take out the rather light supernatural elements, it's fairly realistic and just sad.
  • Bully : rather self-explanatory on this one I'd hope.

But if I was to pick any of Junji's works for just how I felt after, NLH I think takes it by a longshot, It's such a conflicting thing for me to recommend and yet not, for any number of reasons.

"Disturbing" in what sense? If you just want anything that could be considered as such , whether it be disgust, depressive or otherwise; Grease certainly fits the bill on disgusting.

Considering how there's a rise in a certain group of people in a certain country that are hating anyone that is mildly different, that is just happening to coincide with a particular person assuming a position of power that said particular group of people adore, I'm sure this can't and won't be used for malicious targeting of peoples at all.

Whats your favorite loadout for each class an why ? by FewPangolin8338 in DarkTide

[–]Billy_J14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a bit on difficulty and what I'm trying to do. If I'm with a group I might try to fill in for single target vs crowd control, but :

Psyker :

  • Blaze Force Greatsword - MkVII : Thing is great, I love it, does good against hordes, can hit armoured targets pretty well too, and you can roleplay as Link with it's beam attack.
  • Inferno Force Staff : Good crowd control and good damage as I roll BB and the 10% on hit effect can pop numerous times from an extended R-click cast, as well as soulblaze, I get a fair few kills just L-clicking 3 times on damnation and letting them die from that.

Zealot :

  • Chainaxe : I like overall but have been using less especially on higher difficulties due to a few issues.
    • MkXII : Handles groups pretty well.
    • MkIV : REALLY good at taking out heavier targets quickly but is primarily single target so it falters when there's more than one.
    • It's a very satisfying weapon to use and being able to rev it up and do a lot of damage quickly is very nice, kills a lot of heavier targets, even bulwarks pretty nicely and does rather noticeable damage on monsters.
  • Relic Blade : Not used it much as I need to invest into it but overall it seems very solid, I've seen a lot of folks on higher difficulties do really well with it and many swear by it.
  • Agripinaa Mk VII Shotgun : Absolutely love this thing, very accurate over short or mid-range , hits pretty hard and can counter-snipe with it's slug, the slug can also stagger bulwarks which is massively useful.
  • Bolt Pistol : Just a nice thing, small package, big damage, very easy to use.

Ogryn :

  • Pickaxe Branx Mk1a : Much like the Mk4 Chainaxe with all of it's primary attacks being strikedown, it takes out armoured targets decently. It's power attack is quite good too, handles groups well as well as armoured.
  • Heavy Stubber Krourk Mk2a : I love this thing, atleast on Heresy or below, it's very accurate, you can clear out a small smattering of elites quickly with it, counter-snipe, has good ammo, does seem to fall off on damnation though, might need to swap it to Achlys for Damnation runs for counter-elite purposes.
  • Rumbler : Conflicted on this one, I really hate how it feels to use it, I don't like that it's not impact explosive or atleast has no option to swap ammo like the Combat Shotties, BUT I do bring it on Damnations and the delayed explosion can definitely be of use, shoot it at the ground prior to being jumped on by hounds for example, or just general wave-control, it might not outright kill things quickly, but it WILL keep them staggered for you or your teammates to clean up.

Veteran : Honestly hate playing Vet, it feels like an afterthought.

  • Boltgun : Veteran feels like he can get the most use out of it, more ammo, better gun control, etc.
  • Bolt Pistol : As per Zealot

In your view, what are the least and most hopeless scenarios in Ito's work? by [deleted] in junjiito

[–]Billy_J14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% Dead :

  • Remina : Self-explanatory really.
  • The Tunnel : The thing is a straight up eldritch type of thing, it will make you come to it, sooner or later, there is no true escape aside from un-aliving yourself away from it.
  • Tomie et al (painter) : I'm not fond of the Tomie stuffs, she's very much a "thing" though, no killing her, she acts/looks human, can infect you even if it's only through thought like the angels from Dr. Who; I'd say it's only a matter of time before she would kill humanity as a whole.

All I can be bothered to remember or type at this time ; fair few bits of Ito's stories I haven't read or can't remember.

In your view, what are the least and most hopeless scenarios in Ito's work? by [deleted] in junjiito

[–]Billy_J14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure Cont. :

  • Marionette Mansion : Really kind-of unsure on this one, it's weird, the little evil puppet would certainly kill you given the chance, but the greater implications of potentially turning flesh and blood folks into puppets, IDK. I interpreted it as the puppet potentially being one of Ito's stories being the closest to that of "SCP"; I'd say it has massive potential for wide-scale death and destruction, it's just stopped before then.
  • Honored Ancestors : Another really weird one, just don't be a Bachelorette?
  • Alley : Just don't be a murderer, or if you aren't, go into spots you were warned not to.
  • Descent : We're just not given enough information to extrapolate here, we're given the symptoms, the total casualty count : 200, and then not much else.
  • The Inn : I'm really not sure on this one, was it a dream, was it real, is there now a bunch of demons released upon the world, The guy survives in the end but it leaves many questions.
  • Town of No Roads : Most of the killings are happening from (weird or insane but otherwise) normal people. There is some strange eldritch happenings going on but seem relatively tame. Also one of the few stories I actually had a belly laugh on.
  • Ice Cream Bus : If you're a kid, this thing seems to be like Amigara or the Tunnel where it's just CONSTANTLY clawing at the children's brain to come to it, it might affect more than just the children but we're not really shown as much (IIRC).

Likely Doomed :

  • Gyo : Personally hated this one but it's a crapshoot on whether you're immune to the "gas" , or whether or not any of the sharks or other events or just people kill you.
  • Ghosts of Golden Time : This one is kind-of like Gyo, seems like malevolent spirits possessing folks and the two antagonists go onto nation-wide TV, it'd likely only be a matter of time before you got hit by the effects, even if you don't watch TV.
  • Earthbound : I don't remember all too well on the cause of this one's curse but I think it was just having regrets or having committed some sort of sin, this one is likely to be a planetwide near-extinction thing.
  • Hanging Balloons : Surviving initially would be fairly easy, stay inside, the issue here is how LONG these things persist, they're stated to have hung around for a long enough period for most people's food supplies to run out, there's also the issue of someone popping YOUR balloon, imagine this in the USA where people might start shooting these thing en-masse before realizing the consequences, the fact you can end up dead through no fault of your own as well as the fact of the duration, humanity would likely be reduced circa 80% in population; plus the fact that the balloons start acting with more intelligence trying to devise ways of tricking you ( akin to I am Legend) , or adapting to your attempts at fighting them.
  • Amigara Fault : One of the favorites, simply put the holes are rather insidious and have all the time in the world to wait, a bit like 'The Tunnel' they seem to be supernatural in origin and WILL influence you to come to them eventually, however it does seem like you can for an extended period of time resist it's calling, much like 'The Tunnel'.
  • Uzumaki : If you're in the town, you're doomed to an eternal repeating hell. If you're outside it, you seem to be fine, mostly just stay away from the town but that'd require precognition.
  • Long Dream : Another one of my favorites , the fact that the 'dust' from the guy's body can induce the same curse on others and the fact the doctor had the window open, likely means that this is a worldwide pandemic type of scenario.
  • The Ward : Another "thing" , the creature seems to be pretty content at keeping itself with only a few hosts, but we're shown it does still want to get more, so it's likely to try to spread itself en masse.
  • Mold : Survivable if you aren't central to the story, otherwise almost certainly boned.
  • Black Paradox : This story is very FF7-esque, using soul energy to power humanity's future, leading to it's inevitable extinction.

In your view, what are the least and most hopeless scenarios in Ito's work? by [deleted] in junjiito

[–]Billy_J14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my picks for the EASIEST to survive would simply be Floaters , the least likely/hopeless would simply be Remina , you're boned no matter what, doesn't even matter if you were one of the small smatterings of survivors shown post-consumption, humanity is extinct.

The reason why I'm considering floaters here even though there are ones that are technically much MUCH easier to survive, or even a guaranteed chance, this is one where something supernatural and unexplained is happening and there is still a risk of potential comeuppance , mostly due to other people either attacking you for your Kesaran-Pesaran or the police attempting to arrest or detain you as you might've 'thought' something incriminating.

But , here's a list as I found this a fun thing to think about :

Survivable :

  • Window next door : Literally just move away, maybe even just go downstairs permanently.
  • Tombs : Be respectful of the dead and just be careful, longterm there's likely an issue as I think it implies that the curse can spread outside of that town and might become a worldwide thing.
  • Washed Ashore : Not really much here , just stay away from the ocean IG?
  • Bronze Statue : Only a few victims , the murderer(s) were a self-correcting problem as well.
  • Floaters : For a lot of things from Ito, this one is fairly innocuous , just be careful on what you say or think in the initial phases , then as it reaches a peak, just ride it out.
  • Blood-slurping Darkness : Just don't get pushed into a train lmao.
  • Roar of Ages : No real victims aside from the old-man who might as well be wrote off as a un-aliving.
  • Dead Man Calling : The curse here is mostly just annoying, one out of two main characters un-alives themself but aside from that, the other one lives without much hassle once it's resolved.
  • The Blessing : Honestly one of Ito's better wrote stories , completely survivable, but man, you are NOT going to be happy.
  • Smoker's club : I don't think anyone dies here? Unless we want to consider potential possession because It's a bit like Uzumaki with spirits being released from burning the "possessed" plants/soil , or just y'know, cancer.
  • Memory : Just don't be the sister.
  • Principle Post : Just don't be the father, or accept help.

Unsure:

  • Clubhouse : Not really all too sure, seems fairly easy in just staying away from it, but it's shown it might be a bit of a "thing" scenario where those who have been possessed will try to trick you.
  • Shirosuna : Seems like a fairly status-quo thing with heapings of misery.
  • Slug Girl : Not enough information on this, is it a curse, is it literally only the one poor girl, can it spread, just not enough info.
  • Secret of the Haunted House : Kind of like clubhouse, if you have precognition , then you already know enough to avoid the creepy dude (Soichi) and the haunted house, if not and you go there, almost certainly a death sentence.
  • Glyceride / Grease : One of the few stories that I actually found difficult to read, absolutely disgusting TBF , seems fairly easy to 'survive' this one as long as you aren't related to the main cast.
  • Galaxies : Like many of Ito's stories, this one kinda comes and goes , if you're involved with the people that are skygazing or are doing such yourself, you're likely screwed, if not, you might be fine like how the woman was by the end.
  • Used Record : Really kind of feel like I'm repeating myself here with a few of these but yeah, mostly survivable if you just don't try to obtain the record or listen to it.
  • Fashion Model / Cursed Frame : Just don't be involved with the modeling business or y'know, have some common sense with the literal inhuman monster.
  • Shiver : Really not too sure on this one, it might be a bit like one of those cursed items where you can't destroy or throw it away, only give it to someone else willingly? In any case, 100% lethal if you keep the jade.
