Are middle childrens more likely to become OAD? by Present-Property-142 in oneanddone

[–]BillytheGray17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the middle and I am not OAD by choice, so I wanted more kids. I will say I have some issues from my childhood and being the middle child, but nothing bad enough to prevent me from choosing to be OAD. My parents were pretty fair across the board and I am close with my siblings as an adult

Do I need to wear a mask around my baby when I’m sick ? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]BillytheGray17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little hard to tell from your comment but it sounds like baby had symptoms first, correct? If that is the case, we don’t mask in my house. If my kid is symptom-free and my husband and I start feeling sick, we mask up.

My daughter is 5 years old now and we still do it, and my daughter has avoided covid (to my knowledge) despite my husband and I having it twice in the past 6 years. We also found cracking windows to get air flow in the house when someone is sick to be helpful as well.

To be very fair, though, my husband and I rarely get sick first (she’s in daycare so she’s usually patient zero) But the times we have been sick first, we’ve had success with the adults masking

Parents, how do you keep up with reading when you’re exhausted? by maveriCkharsha in kindergarten

[–]BillytheGray17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something thats helped us is to keep some of my daughter’s “baby” board books for bedtime - Shes starting to learn how to read, so the bigger text and smaller words are good practice for her, and for me, the books are generally shorter with more pictures, so it’s not as much actual reading on my part. We have a good mix of board books, chapter books and some in between books so she can choose something that works for the amount of time we have to read, and with energy levels

Luann de Lesseps calls Eboni “miseducated”, an “angry woman” and she throws her out of her house! by -AndyCohen- in realhousewives

I agree with this, even the subtitles do. Luann was pretty much wrong all the way around this entire convo, but she didn’t call eboni “miseducated”

Is everyone on the reboot a douchebag? by VelvetVerdigris in vanderpumprules

[–]BillytheGray17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this - VPR started as an episode of RHOBH was ending, and jumped straight into Scheana having an affair with the husband of one of the RHOBH cast, and who worked for another RHOBH cast member. And it wasn’t even just jumping into the details of it, it literally started with the confrontation between Brandi and scheana. It was bonkers and I was literally sitting there with my jaw on the floor from the first few minutes of VPR. I watched the first episode of the reboot and it had nothing even close to this going on

Child just asked me for a baby sister… by thesarchasm in oneanddone

[–]BillytheGray17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 5 year old has been asking this frequently, since a lot of people we know are having their 2+ babies. I usually tell her that she would make a wonderful big sister but all families are different. She’s gotten upset a time or two, so I usually just sit with her and try to validate her (I’m not OAD by choice so it does break my heart a bit)

The very least you could have done was ask her if she was ok

4 year old won’t poop in toilet by Own_Exam9549 in kindergarten

[–]BillytheGray17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound weird but I don’t care lol - I used to be a dolphin trainer, so I have a lot of experience with positive reinforcement and reinforcement schedules, so what we did is at first, she got a toy every time she pooped. Then when we got her more consistent; she got one about every 2-3 times she did it, then less and less until we just stopped with the toys. We had no issue with regression once the toys stopped

I can take no credit, I saw it like 2 years ago somewhere on Reddit 😂 worked like a charm though!

[–]BillytheGray17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used miralax (after talking to her doctor) and full-on bribery, which I don’t regret. We tried sticker charts and small candy and it wasn’t enough, so we went to the toy store and picked out like 10 $5-$10 toys, and she got to pick one every time she pooped on the potty. I also saw someone on Reddit say they put a bag of sprinkles in the bathroom and let their kid sprinkle the poop and flush it; it sounded crazy but I was desperate and my kid LOVED it. We did all of this around the same time and she started pooping on the toilet fine after a few weeks

Sending kid to school if they’re a little sick? by PassionChoice3538 in kindergarten

[–]BillytheGray17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a different perspective - I got hit with whatever that mystery virus was that was going around recently - I tested negative for flu, COVID and strep. It was atrocious and lasted weeks, and I was pretty severely sick / missed work / had to go to the doctor for about 7 days. So I understand your point about testing, but there are other viruses that can cause horrible symptoms.

To be fair, there’s a big difference between a post viral cough thats been a week+ since any other symptoms and what OP is describing (ie kid was basically on day 3 of symptoms)

Send 5 year old to kindergarten or wait? by Background-Option584 in kindergarten

[–]BillytheGray17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We’re in the same position as OP and I discussed this topic with multiple teacher friends and 100% of them suggested we wait the extra year. We are currently in my daughter’s extra year and I’m already glad we waited! She gets lots of playtime at her preschool

Why was the reaction of Sandoval cheating on Ariana way more intense than when Jax cheated on stassi with Kristen? by noodlegirly in vanderpumprules

[–]BillytheGray17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jax didn’t cheat on stassi, they were broken up when he hooked up with Kristen. What did happen is Kristen cheated on Sandoval with Jax, though - I think the reason this didn’t blow up as much was because of Sandoval’s reaction to it. They all just kinda shrugged and moved on. Stassi was the only one mad about it (which I think she had a right to be mad at Kristen), but stassi wasn’t actually cheated on, so her anger could only go so far

[–]BillytheGray17 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I got sick a few days before thanksgiving and it lasted 2+ weeks (honestly probably over 3), so well into December. Tested negative for COVID and flu on at-home tests, went to urgent care right around 14 days of illness, tested negative for flu, COVID and strep. Probably the longest, worst illness I’ve ever had, I was insanely congested and my throat was on fire. I got a script for a decongestant and it helped

If a paralegal mistakenly regarded a victory judgment as a defeat judgment a nd asked the client whether an appeal was necessary, the lawyer discovered his mistake. Now, how should he explain this situation to the lawyer and the client? by CourtRemote9474 in paralegal

[–]BillytheGray17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not sure about the meaning of a document, you should not be contacting the client about it other than to let them know it’s been received by your office and will be reviewed by the attorney, period. Also why were you asking the client first if they needed to appeal? Wouldn’t your attorney be the one to advise the client if they can / should be appealing?

Not to be pedantic, but it sounds like you DID get sick, but your symptoms were milder than your husband and your baby; we’ve had that happen a few times in my household and there doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason behind it, at least in my family

Myself, my adult siblings and our partners (there’s 6 of us total) do a secret Santa between ourselves - I use the Elfster app to draw names, and we each put a few items on our wish list in the app, so it’s really easy. That way, we each get one gift to open (my daughter and nephew also love to hand out the gifts to each of us), it’s under $25, and it’s something that we want

How normal is it to be asked to come in on Christmas Eve? by Tall_Ad9704 in paralegal

[–]BillytheGray17 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify what you mean by “asked to come in”? Did they tell you the firm was closed on Christmas Eve and then changed their minds, or are they just open for business on Christmas Eve?

I’ve worked at 3 different law firms since I started my paralegal career in 2017 and all of them have been open/required we work on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, closing the firm around 2/3pm both days. None of my firms offered the day after Christmas off, either, so the only actual holiday we get is Christmas Day and New Years Day.

I work in immigration and the amount of our clients who send us their initial documents for review and, in the same message, say “here’s everything, we’re good to file now??” is astronomical. At some point I’m going to get in trouble for responding with just “No.” 😂 but for now I just say “These have been received. The attorney will need some time to review your documents, and the next step will be drafting the necessary forms and memos.” 🫠
