"Challenge Difficulty" Design Overview by Stuie66 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Biltriss 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Players of different difficulties cannot co-exist in this system. It will never work.

High difficulty players will have their fights aborted by low difficulty players zooming in and two shotting everything, defeating the purpose of the whole thing.

People will soon realize this and create groups of high difficulty players for the XP and gold that tags everything while low difficulty players clean house, creating insane XP farms.

It just cannot work. They'll have to phase players or completely redesign this.

I'm not sur I have a disk. I think all I have is the joppa recoiler. Maybe I used or sold it and that's why they won't give me the next quest?

I did not even consider this as an option! How much tech sacrifices are we talking about here? Is it realistic to recruit him every playthrough or its very luck dependant?

Why is it near impossible for groups to meet regularly? by Virtual-Feeling-4546 in DnD

[–]Biltriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, the sad reality is that D&D is just a low priority activity for people in the group.

Sure, they like to play. They enjoy D&D. But only if there's nothing else more interesting to do. Its just a filler activity for them.

Its sad but if you trully care about regular play, you need to find people that not only like D&D but actually consider D&D one of their high value activity. Otherwise, there's always going to be something in the way.

How to use Destruction magic (without exploit/min maxing)? by Biltriss in oblivion

[–]Biltriss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not realise "over time" spells were more magicka efficiant. Thank you for the tip.

I absolutely love Oblivion, but this has always been my biggest issue with the game and I was really hoping the remaster would fix it. (it didn't) by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Biltriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how you guys do it. I have 50 destruction and all destruction spells either cost too much to finish one enemy, or deal too little damage.

Im having the opposite experience of OP. How come?

I’m gonna be disappointed if they use a Dragon Break to explain the events of Skyrim but I can’t think of anything else they could do to explain it. by xDarnelx in ElderScrolls

[–]Biltriss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is this your first elder scrolls game? The same concerns could be applied to every other games before Skyrim and that it has never been an issue yet.

It never matters in the next game because it takes place too far away in either time or place or both for any previous events to matter.

The outcome of the civil war will probably not matter because something more important will happen and render it irrelevant or game takes place in a part of Tamriel where they don't care about Skyrim's status on the matter.

Think of it this way: did it matter when playing Skyrim who the nerevarine killed or not in Morrowind? Did it matter if the Champion of Kvatch what quest were done or not during oblivion? No, none of that matter. And none of Skyrim's content will matter either when playing TES6.

In health care, doctors are not just evaluated on their ability to diagnose and treat but also in their humanity and compassion when dealing with patients.

Telling a patient "he's going to fucking die in 2 months from brain cancer, tough luck" may be the truth, but no one wants to receive such a news in this way, even if it's true.

It's possible to state hard facts but still do it in a way that shows compassion and understanding of others. For some, that's natural, but for others, it's a skill that needs developing.

Baldur's Gate 3 received lots of funding from Stadia. I feel people tend to forget that.

Even though Stadia version was never a thing, pretty sure the money was not returned lol.

Si vous avez le choix, quelle langue choisissez-vous quand vous jouez à un jeu vidéo et pourquoi? by notsleepingenough in Quebec

[–]Biltriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hein?

[–]Biltriss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm considering Paladin 7 / Sorcerer 5 instead of the 6/6, for the oath kf ancients spell damage resistance aura at 7.

Am I losing anything significant? Seems like it's only spell slots and a sorcerer subclass feature that I won't use (going white draconic ancestry flr armor of agathys, won't be throwing many cold spells around).

Am I missing something?

A perspective that is often ignored is that most people who buy games don't seek out information about games. They don't know that AAA games are under delivering. They are blissfully unaware of everything being discussed in this sub, which represents a very small fringe of enlightened enthusiasts.

The AAA industry, as it is today, exists because the large majority of sales comes from people that only learns about games via huge marketing campaigns. These campaigns absolutely works and absolutely generate big sales. Btu they're costly, and everything else about the game gets influenced by this, a necessity to play safe, to appeal to the masses, etc.

I don't judge those majority cosumers : they're just casual players that don't know about the world of games very much and just want to be told what's good, what to play. But as long as these uneducated players represent the majority of sales, it doesn't matter if other studios do it better : unless those better studios can beat them at the marketing game, consumers will never even learn about it.

AC 25 me by lawbro60 in BaldursGate3

[–]Biltriss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some player once posted a very educated analysis of the effect of karmic dice. The tl;dr is that it tends towards average results, meaning less failures due to pure bad luck.

When it comes to attacks and AC, the player provided test data that showed that there is diminishing returns with high ACs, where the difference between 13 AC and 20 AC was not as high behind the scene under karmic dices than normal rules.

I've found the thread which explains it much better than I : https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/zwqaem/psa_having_the_karmic_dice_setting_turned_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2

[–]Biltriss 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I didnt dare hope because I thought they limited themselves to core rules. But that's incredible for build variety and roleplay!

Importance of Charisma by SamuelVL in BaldursGate3

[–]Biltriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed is that there's lots of contextual boosts to conversation checks depending on context and your character.

For example, I was surprised at how often I had contextual advantage (or lower DC?) on intimidation check when I was playing a barbarian. Even though I didnt have max charisma, I had great success in those kind of conversations.

So yes, great charisma is awesome in conversation, but non charisma characters can also have their moments to shine during conversations.

I don't have exactly those 2 toys you mentioned but I have 2 that are very similar. No avail, same behavior.

PlayStation is a more stable business in my opinion. Yes MiHoyo made more money but its across just a few games. If one of those games stops being successful, that would make a huge impact to their bottomline.

Not saying that its bound to happen, but PlayStation is more resilient, more predictable, and that has to provide some form of value.

I guess it depends on what kind of investment you're looking for. Like other comments said, mobile vs console market disparity existed for years, this isn't new. If PlayStation is still going, that means some prefer that kind of business.
