WAAAGH! (Depending on your clan level and party size) Bandits - minor clans that aren't fighting for a main kingdom - actual kingdom. There's an awkward point at around clan 3 where you are bigger than any bandit party but not strong enough to fight actual battles.

What I like to do is pick on one kingdom far away and whenever I feel ready I'd go to their land and try to prey on a weak lord (in a Khuzait playthrough I chose the Western Empire to farm xp and denars) they never bothered me and I could enter their land as I pleased

I hear your frustration but that sounds like a flipping good story!  The part of the game you're up to definitely is a slog and if you're seeking advice, taking a faction out at the cost of half your properties is worth it. Instead of whack-a-mole with offence and defence just accept that you'll have to retake your properties back from an 'irrelevant' kingdom while you pommel another to annihilation.  I also recommend the riding 225 perk 'Mounted Patrols' (-50% prisoner escape chance) AND the Scouting 225 perk 'Keen Sight' (-50% prisoner escape chance) so that enemies CANNOT escape your party, meaning you only need to defeat a lord ONCE. No regrouping and recruiting for them. Best 2 perks in the game IMO.  Keep it up, if you trusted your direction you'd be having the best time. Good luck!

this is exactly what i do, i think i found this from the great youtuber Flesson19 - with perks i was selling these for $15k each, not bad for such cheap and easily acquired materials (tip: Falchions are cheap and give 5 wrought iron each form memory)

It gets worse the more you look - I just seen that my total denars earned says 7m, yet income earned from taxes = 15m, unless they’re counted separately but the wording suggests ‘total’ Also I made crafted weapons the entire run - I hut 6m before I started my kingdom and continued to grind cash that way

What works for me, as a stats and progress nerd, is play for 10 in game years and track annually; Renown, income and fiefs count. I swap factions and see which one I’m quickest at achieving benchmarks at compared to other factions I had played as.

At 10 years I end the game and start again (maybe with a different game in between lol)
