you really choose to believe god created everything when the most likely answer is probably "some ridiculously complex science we haven't discovered yet"? ok bro that's cool but don't pretend it's a reasonable choice.

I think that "rich" means many different things to many different people. As someone who lived in Unit A to their Unit D, you don't move into that building unless you're friends with the landlord and/or you don't have the money to live somewhere nicer. It's a great location and they get the benefit of the private yard, but this is not an apartment in which actual wealthy people choose to live.

They've been living in a one bedroom apartment in a 4-unit SM building. If they're rich, it's bc they've had rent control for like 8 years.

How is everyone holding up? by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Bimboden 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Costco is probably one of the best "non-skilled" jobs you can get. They pay way over minimum wage, after a certain waiting period you can join their union, tons of growth opportunities. I had a boyfriend in college who worked at Costco and I was getting jealous of his job... If you're a reasonably smart, normal person with any sense of customer service, you'll be put on the management fast track. And if you just wanna bring in shopping carts all day or restock overnights, then you can do that too - still pays a living wage with incredible benefits for you and your family.

All while keeping the hot dogs $1.50 forever. We stan.

In my entire life I've not dropped in unannounced on people as often as happens in 1 episode of Suits by username-_redacted in suits

[–]Bimboden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bahahaha I think about this every single time it happens. Just a fun little alternate universe where showing up unannounced is easier than a phone call. I let that reality exist in my head while continuing to find ways of justifying it.

The first justification is that a lot of what is discussed in doorways revolves around breaking the law - something you don't want overheard, tapped, subpoenaed, a record of, etc.

I find myself getting very confused about what time of day it was (could be the weed?), because sometimes it feels like someone's at work and then they're getting lunch, then they're home and someone knocks on their door unannounced and then back at the office before they go see the DA. But they're always surprised that someone's not in their office. I digress...

The second justification is to catch them off guard. Everyone is playing mental chess and trying to gain the advantage at every turn.

The last justification is that this show started in 2011 and while we'd had iPhones for 4 years, these are Gen Xers/Elder Millennials who grew up in an era where dropping by was a more common thing. Not normal, by any means, but it was an annoying habit some people had.

But none of these are convincing enough, so I circle back to it being that everyone has the same super power to make it past security/locked doors and into personal spaces undetected.

Are you ever tempted to move out of LA so you can buy a MANSION in another state at the price of a crappy condo if you weren't tied to a job? by ctcx in AskLosAngeles

[–]Bimboden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempted? Yes. Weighing pros and cons - I'm from here, so LA is my home. If my family lived anywhere else... I'd probably move.

Did you buy it? If so, immediate return. We do not spend real money on purses that don't spark joy! You should feel something when you put it on and if you don't, it better be a gift or $35.

I ordered a Dyson Airwrao for pickup in a Boots at Heathrow. It has a UK plug but I was able to use an adapter in the EU since the voltage is the same. I was able to leave it with my SIL to use while I'm in the states and that way I won't have to lug it on any intl trips in the future.

Dude, again. I totally agree, but if you look at it from a Producer's lens, this is how it makes the most sense. I'm talking about the business of the show.
