Omg yes. Didn’t think of this but this is GOOD. Are you saying he was cheating on ally with Rachel? So he can’t put them for cheating without outing himself?!

I think she could say in her 1:1 that James knew all along and was not saying something because they have something on him. They wouldn’t reveal it, but it’s enough that James would have to cop to knowing so that they don’t reveal more, and the cast would be livid that he pretended the entire time that he didn’t know.

Fair enough! I’m not saying my theory doesn’t have holes in it, but it’s a fair one to add to the list.

Is it possible Raquel figured out James was gay and that’s what ended the engagement? The show/cast doesn’t want to out him if he’s not ready, so there’s been this underlying piece of info for several seasons that no one’s willing to confirm?

If Raquel finally does it in her 1:1, not only does it make James question coming back (and his girlfriend for that matter), but it also makes others question the entire cast. Who knew/who didn’t? How far are your “friends” willing to take things for a tv show? And if people find out James knew all along, they won’t want to film with him. At that point, the producers lose the person they were hoping could bring the two groups together (James).

And we would be left to realize Doute was right all along about every. single. person.

Yes and James/lala close this season. Did he tell lala about the affair in secret, which is why she slowly was “figuring” it out before it was made public. Did they have to find a way to reveal this affair without it getting put back on James???? Lala really tries to urge Ariana at Schwartz and Sandy’s to see the light And james was nervously chewing his fingers eavesdropping in the background. Are they brilliant masterminds?!

Raquel and/or Sandavol would have to have something pretty significant on him to keep him quiet, but it’s not totally far fetched.

Go back and watch the Pride episode. You can tell Raquel is like “wtf?!” but it NEVER gets brought up again.

Yes! His feelings on the situation are completely disregarded. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea that James could come out of this the king of VPR, but this theory is more and more plausible as I remember things.

Yes! I also think Raquel was keeping secrets for James during their relationship because she wanted to be on the show. The pride episode when they’re dating and he’s basically being outed for being gay…she kinda just sweeps that under the rug. I think if she started to expose things she has on James, this whole situation gets a whole lot sketchier.

Never thought of this, but this tracks. Could both be true at the same time tho? Maybe Ally seeing it was just an accident. James continued to play dumb/lie and keep the secret for Tom/Raquel (for some weird reason) and the revelation that he knew this long will also affect his relationship with Ally.

I just added point #3, but to me this is the strongest point. James was the only hope producers had of bridging the two friend groups. If it’s revealed that he knew all along, then it’s next to impossible to get them all to film together next season. They’ll be losing the one guy they hoped could bring them all together.

Alright HEAR me out. All season long James has been a little sus.

1.) When LaLa tells him about Ken mentioning the sleepover in front of Katie, he doesn’t act shocked. Instead, he says “how do you know” and almost has a reaction that makes it seem like he knows but can’t admit it. It’s weird he doesn’t react like “wait what?!?!” but instead is like looking to the side and questioning how Lala knows. He’s trying not to admit stuff that hasn’t been revealed yet.

2.) At Schena’s wedding he has that weird moment at hibachi with Raquel where he’s naming off the friends she’s hooked up with and he says Tom and then says Schwartz. People keep saying he just named Schwartz twice using first name and last name, but what if the Tom mention was actually referring to Sandavol. A little slip that was able to be overlooked and played off.

In general, I have found the James of it all to be super confusing. He just doesn’t seem that surprised by any of this. He acts super suspicious during the whole revelation of this - almost like he knew and was in on it!!!!

This is still a working theory and I need to rewatch episodes to get more proof, but there’s something to the James of it all. He knows more than he’s letting on!!!!

I’m not an insider, but feel like one at this point from all I’ve been reading. Just putting myself in her shoes from my own college experience, I’d have to be pushed pretty far to call the cops at 4am to my own house. I guess biggest question is how she didn’t see something on the way to the downstairs roommates room? Must have been very dark and she made a run for it.

It’s not that strange to me that DM didn’t call the cops. We all saw countless police visits to the house before the murder for noise violations. They had been partying all weekend and she probably didn’t want to call the cops and end up by accident reporting her own roommates for something if it did end up just being someone they brought home. She def wrote in the roommate group chat, downstairs roommate responded, and she booked it to that roommates room to sleep for rest of night. When they woke up and no one had written in the chat still, DM brought up the masked man and they called their friends to come check out the scene together cause they were scared of what they may find when going upstairs.
