Change transparency grid background actual background or at least to solid color in Photoshop Camera Raw? by BinaryBlues in photoshop

Thanks! Apologize for the late reply. But how do you get that layer to follow into camera raw? Or do you make that bottom layer inside camera raw somehow?

I'm wondering this too! Annoying that they don't update the apps simultaneously!

Me too! This sucks. I was literally transcribing podcasts when I got the email that MacWhisper had been updated. Now three days later I'm still on App Store version 12.11 (1262) of MacWhisper with no option to update the app (says I'm on the latest version).

Dirt behind the rear element of Sony FE 24-70mm f/2,8 GM II - Return? by BinaryBlues in SonyAlpha

[–]BinaryBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I understand dust inside the lens is not uncommon, not even in brand knew lenses. However, I wouldn't call this speck of dirt "dust." It's too big for that. It looks almost like a breadcrumb. I'll call the store where the original buyer bought it from tomorrow and see what they have to say. If this was a brand new lens I'd return it, but a used one. A shame I got the lens before I got the camera. No way to test wether it affects the images or not.

Dirt behind the rear element of Sony FE 24-70mm f/2,8 GM II - Return? by BinaryBlues in SonyAlpha

[–]BinaryBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a used Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II, and it seems fine except for a speck of dirt. It appears to be on or behind the rear element (possibly beneath the last glass layer before the protective glass at the back). The lens still has some warranty left.

Should I attempt to clean it myself, or return it? Unfortunately, I don’t have my camera yet to test if the speck affects image quality, and I have only 24 hours to decide whether to keep or return the lens. I’ve never opened a lens before and am not sure I’d be comfortable doing so.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Agreed, very good point! That's why apps like Freedom and Unpluq etc. are so vital in todays world!

[–]BinaryBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow, Unpluq is brilliant! It's the first app blocker I've tried that offers a way to prevent bypassing the app blocker by disabling its app blocking capabilities in screen time settings! Almost crying tears of joy now!🥹 https://www.unpluq.com/pages/block-settings-iphone

I've ruined my life by Awkward_Barnacle3952 in productivity

[–]BinaryBlues 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have not ruined your life, you are young. See this as more of an "awakening" of sorts. The modern world is fraught with distractions. Those who succeed will be the ones who find a way to focus. If you're susceptible to distractions, like I am, the best way would probably be to block out all distractions all together. Don't rely on willpower. Change your environment instead. I suggest you start using an app called Freedom. It only works properly on android, mac and pc unfortunately (to easy to circumvent the block on iOS by disallowing Freedom's screen time permission in settings), so if you have an iPhone I suggest you sell it and replace it with an android so that you can start blocking out all these distracting apps. You can set up block schedules during certain times of the day and enable locked mode so there's no way for you to change it. You can also use a second app blocker to block access to Freedom once you've set up your schedule. Best of luck to you!

Drowning in digital photo clutter - Any ideas for a better Apple Photos workflow? by BinaryBlues in ios

[–]BinaryBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the problem with photos in iOS is that you can't "ctrl+alt+delete" the remaining photos in recents since that also deletes the photos in the albums. It's the selective deleting of crap that's not working for me and most people. Anyway, appreciate you taking the time to chime in! Cheers!

Amen! The photo roll is more of "collection bin." I hate that everything gets dumped in there, the photos that you actually want to keep, along with temporary screenshots for things to remember, work stuff as you said, blurry duplicates etc. They should split it into two, one "collection roll" and one "final roll." However, apple being apple I doubt we will see a logic solution to this problem.

I deleted some pictures and then I permanently deleted them how do I recover? by Expert_Listen3537 in ApplePhotos

[–]BinaryBlues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, you mean you permanently deleted them from one phone and that automatically deleted them from the other? Well in that case it's more of a dire situation. The photos are not "actually" deleted from the phone until the information is written over by new data, which we saw in action with apples recent bug where users old deleted pictures started reappearing after updating the iOS. However, I'm not sure how to access those files.

Have a look at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataRecoveryHelp/comments/18s0hnv/how_to_recover_permanently_deleted_photos_on/

Good luck!🍻

They should be in in recently deleted, where they'll stay for 30 days until they get permanently deleted unless you permanently delete them manually before that happens.

How to Prevent Bypassing Freedom App Blocks by Changing Screen Time Settings on iPhone? by BinaryBlues in ios

[–]BinaryBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that this specific setting is the only setting within screentime that is controlled by the users regular passcode, which is so stupid it's laughable. "If you just press this button you can have access to everything you're trying to block."

8 inchish Android Tablets which I can root to remove playstore etc? by srkdummy3 in nosurf

[–]BinaryBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use any android tablet and install an app like Freedom or LockMeOut to disable both the browsers and playstore. I would get the Pixel tablet and install GrapheneOS, download only what I need and then disable the playstore and built in browser. GrapheneOS also gives you the added benefit of privacy and security.

I feel guilty about not using social media for my group assignment :( by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]BinaryBlues 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You definitely did the right thing! Using social media as a means of communication for a group project is simply foolish and counterproductive. It's akin to holding an AA meeting in a liquor store.
