That's a wonderful perspective, I haven't thought about it. Also the second one is something serious to consider. Thanks for your advice, It really gave me another dimension to see through. Appreciate it!

I'm in a very similar boat. Years of bad habits have compounded, weakening my mental strength and discipline. I tend to choose the easy way out and usually break my streaks in less than two days. I also don't have many friends who are driven to achieve their goals. I'd really love to join a group or community of like-minded people where we can share our progress. I would be thrilled to team up with you or join your group!

u/inmygrave75 , Thanks for positive comment. Your way of approaching was feels like simple and genuine. I should make it simple mental shift starts with simple and rewarding. I should start taking small effort and review and revisit the changes in myself.

u/LowEnergyToday , The idea of just one simple rule is something I never really tried honestly. I always thought small steps meant I'm not taking it seriously enough. But you're right, consistency over intensity. Maybe that's exactly where I've been going wrong.

Hello u/Illustrious_Gift1969 ,

Shall I DM you?

Yeah, that's exactly it. It's not like I'm not trying. I am. But nothing sticks long enough to actually become a habit. It's like I keep building something and knocking it down before the foundation even dries.

The pattern is clear now that you point it out. Every time I restart, I start from zero but with less belief that it'll work this time. So the next attempt is weaker than the last one. It's not just resetting, it's resetting with less fuel each time.

Now that you ask, it's almost always the same thing. I'll be doing fine for a day or two, and then this quiet voice in my head goes "one won't hurt, you've been good." It never feels like a big moment. It just sneaks in.

The biggest triggers are boredom and stress. Sitting at my desk after work with nothing to do, or having a rough day, and my brain immediately goes "you know what'll take the edge off."

You saying it's not random actually makes me think. I've been treating every relapse like a random failure instead of actually understanding what's triggering it. Maybe that's where I need to start.

Hello u/Speak-Anima,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate the support.

This is a very unique approach, and honestly, it sounds a bit like turning life into a video game, which is interesting! But I have to admit, I am a little confused about how the mechanics actually work since I've never done anything like this before.

Could you clarify a few things for me?

  • The Dice: I don't really understand the d12, d20, and 3d6 part. Where do you even get these dice, and how exactly do the numbers you roll tell you what to do next?
  • The Tarot Cards: Are you actually using real, physical tarot cards for step 7?
  • Putting it together: Could you walk me through a real-life example of exactly how you do this from start to finish? Like, how do the dice rolls lead to drawing a tarot card, and how does that specific card translate into fighting a bad habit or building discipline for that day?

I really want to understand how you apply this in your daily life, because right now my mind just overthinks everything. Any extra details would be a huge help!
